GT2871 Group buy anybody?
So I took a few minutes of my time and emailed a few Garret turbo distributors, seeing if any of them would be interested in a group buy for the GT2871 Turbo. Basically they said they would be willing to work with us on a group buy.

Jordan,
Yes we could setup some sort of pricing for a GB.

Thanks, Sales

Recently many of our members have been talking about switching over
to turbo's for our 2.0 Supercharged model. We feel that the perfect turbo setup for our cars would be the GT2871. My question to you guys, is if we can get enough
interest, could we setup a group buy type deal with a discounted
price?
Thanks

So basically they said yes, and now i would like to see how many people would actually be interested in this so that they can get an idea.

not sure, thats where you guys come in. Whatever you guys think would work best, is what I will tell him. I dont know a whole lot about turbo's, and what the best setup would be for our cars, so you guys who know more about it could help me get more specific with it.
I just emailed them reguarding pricing.
I'll keep you guys updated.

Depending on pricing and job situation coming up, I could be interested. I am definately looking to grab a GT2871R, but I'd like to know the specs that we're discussing here. Are we going to be able to pick our trims and flanges or are we being pigeon holed into a specific unit they have on the shelf. Are there charges for different flanges or housings? Get that info too. Thanks!

Definately interested if the price is good enough.
BTW anyone think this Turbo is capable of 400whp with head work/cams on an LSJ. I am torn between this and a GT3071R.
I am thinking a GT28 will be too small but I don't want the spool times of a GT30.

Eh, I am also starting to think 400whp on these cars is way to much, and crossing the line for a Daily Driver.
Maybe just go for a GT28 and get the most I can out of it. I am sure meth, race gas, and lots of head work will net me good results.

It all comes down to what you plan to do to the motor. If you plan to keep the motor internals stock, I bet a GT2871R like this would work well for low boost. Would have very good spool times, probably close to instant boost.

We can help you guys out with Gt28r Turbos And we are a supporting vendor.
We are Wholesale Distributers for Precision turbo products.
There are a few different versions you can get.
We Recommend a .48 rear housing and a .60 front housing. This will Produce Very fast spool times and be very street friendly. This is the Turbo we use on our builds.
Depending on how many people are serious we can look into a GB price.
Keep in Mind that every turbo it hand assembled and ballanced by precision turbo.

Lol, yes it will fit behind the motor. I have seen 2 Turbo 2.4s here locally and both had no fitment issues. One was a T3/T04E and the other was a "disco potato" I believe.
