has anyone done a side exit exhaust
I was trying to talk a friend into it but he is scared. Has anyone done this yet? It looks like there is room right in front of the rear tire on the drivers side. It would get rid of the crazy bends that is has to take and make it flow much more freely. The only problems I could see in doing this it the fuel lines, but that is nothing a heat shield or two could take care of.

if he does do it he needs to put a muffler earlier in the system bc if u exit those exhaust gases without a muffler and without a turbo (which is why srt-4s get away with running no mufflers and having side exhausts done so easily).. it is gonna sound disgusting and insanely loud

Well.
Yesterday we went to A14 Foremans, a shop here in England to see about getting a custom exhaust done. They agreed to do a custom exhaust for me for EXTREMELY cheap, and all was looking well.... Until they started looking at some of the bends. They can't bend 3 inches enough... So.. Yeah. Jon suggested a side exit instead to get rid of the curves in the exhaust. This is to provide better air-flow, but of course, it would have to come out of the side in front of the wheel well. I ain't feeling it.. I tried to imagine what it looks like, and in my head it looks like total ass.
Sorry Jon..

Change the cat and just remove the muffler and replace it with a better flowing 2.5 inch one (the last bit of piping as well). The shop should be able to handle that, and it'll be easier on the wallet .

I have seen it done on a J-body, with a rectangular tip, and looked pretty good. I've also seen just a 3" pipe side dumped before the rear tire and it looked like ass.
With the right tip it looks awesome, even better if you don't mind hacking up a side skirt to make it look like it belongs there
I have always loved the dual side exit exhause look, since I first saw it on a corvette, and then on the stangs.

I think this would look amazing though. Has anyone looked to see if our skirts hang low enough to allow this? I've only had mine off the ground to paint the calipers so far, and I didn't even think to look at that.

Honestly, Jon, I think it would look pretty sick, but you got to look at it this way - **** could come out the left side, but what about the right? It wouldn't look right on just one side, IMHO.And then we'd have to seal up the back of course to accomodate.. Maybe I'm just being to scared here. I dunno. I love the way they look on the Roushe.

i agree Saki, unless you had duals comming out both sides, i think it's look stupid. But that Roush idea is awsome, and on both sides would look BADASS!

Jon.. You still want to do this?? We'd have to do the prostetic boob thing on the other side for it to work though, the clearance isn't there for the piping. I'm going outside to look right quick..

I just went outside and checked. It is a very good possibility that we have room on the other side for piping as well. more heat wrap stuff is going to be needed there though... >.< but other than that it's looking better than I thought. My only concern would be filling the back hole in again, and the body work required for side exit exhausts. 3'' Side-exhaust... That's sounding very pimpish man.

Sorry man, I don't feel the SEEs even on the SRT-4. I would say try to get the brits to create you a cutout on your DP. I know you can buy one off of Howell Automotive or JEGS, one of the two. Or ask Needswings if he can sell you just the cutout pipe with the end so you can get it welded onto the DP and then later you can buy the electric cutout. This way you run quiet when you want and loud when you want. And you don't have to worry about filling in the back bumper and slicing and dicing your sideskirts. Just a thought.
