Then my tip is take your time and don't push it. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people shoot for a certain number and end up going up, up, up, down.

when u go down is there any way to correct it? if i am buying a head thats ported but does not have a flow chart is there a chance i could be buying a head that will loose me power?

Yes, it's very possible. Was the head ported by an independent or a shop? Porting isn't just about making holes bigger. You need to increase flow characteristics and there are PLENTY of people out there that have no idea what they are doing and end up ruining the head.

You can seriously **** a port job up from takin too much out. All the porting ive done has just been smoothing and gasket matching. I wanted to take that a tiny step farther.

Damn this turned nasty quick. Sorry this isnt ur average question about what springs to use, or why is my car squeaking. I have all the tools required for this, and i do have knowledge on head porting. All the heads ive ported have been iron. So enough of the smart ass comments, save ur baby dick syndrome for the next guy who asks how much power a stage 2 kit puts down.

you asked for tips, dont get butthurt when the answers are not what you expected. I ported heads in high school for a job. I would not port heads now, it is PRACTICALLY impossible short of copying a CAD profile from GM to come close to their expertise/knowledge.
Tip: if you port the inlet, it will probably hurt the head performance.
Tip: if you dont machine the head face properly, the head will probably not do well for long
Tip: if you port the exhaust, you will likely do one of two things: A) port too much and hurt flow B) port too little and gain no improved flow.
Tip: if you dont do a 3 axis valve seat/face rework, the sealing will not be optimum.
etc. do a search. The head flowbench results are around...good luck
