holy slow!?!
Well it's been warmer the last couple days and for some reason my car feels like it lost 50 horsepower! I've had cars get slower in warmer temps, but it's only in the low to mid 70's and never had one impacted this much. I punched the car for a test like 5mph and it didn't even spin the tire (non g85). Boost is normal, and car idles perfect and everything seems peachy. Is this normal for these cars?

i noticed it to yesterday about 75 degres out. i was at a light and the were no cars around and i floored it threw 1st and the car hooked lke never befor chirped the tires going into 2nd. i took it as a good thing tho bc it was the fastest my car ever got off the line. i did it about 3 more times not so much as a hint of tire spin and wheel hop

Well I can't see anything being that wrong with it besides the warm weather. It was actually in the low 80's today lol. It's not just the traction though, it's also slower throughout the rest of the gears. I'm pretty sure it's the heat, a/c was on (some cars don't turn off the compressor at WOT, not sure on these), and leftover winter gas. The car is smooth as it ever was, boost is at 15psi, and it's not a flat curve like a clogged cat or anything. Only just hit 10k on the odometer. Who knows, maybe I'll throw on a DIY alcohol kit with a super small nozzle (no tuning/monitoring device), and see what happens.

ass dynos can be misleading...bring it to a drag strip and see what you run. Also trying to decide if you car is low on power by how much your tires spin(or don't) isn't so accurate either sicne the heat gets to the tires faster not to mention the hot ass pavement. Then you also have the factor of getting used to the car over time

Today it was about 90 here in Houston as well. I have a completely stock 06 cobalt ss/sc and I can burn through first and get a mini burn in second any time I want.
Sounds to me like the stage 2 kit is finally getting to your clutch, but that's just my honest opinion.

Mine spins like a bitch in first, it hits redline in like 2 secs or less , I cant even go full throttle, I have to ease into it or i have a hard time keeping up with the revs. mine is not the G85 though!

I noticed that too, now that it warmed up a little my tires spin much less and sometimes I dont even chirp when i throw it to second. Maybe its because of the better traction.... I can still spin the tires in first, but only if I floor it but then the horrible wheel hop happens. I also have to ease it through first or I will miss second every time.
I love my car.

i have moderate traction issues in first with a 2.8
launch at 2k on the street, chirps the tires, roll into the gas, very very light spin.
wait. i cheat
boost is limited to 7 psi in first

70-80 degree pavement is going to make a big difference in traction. like so many others have said tires are hotter for one, and pavement is hotter. instead of rating your car on how bad the tires spin, try using the speedometer, lol

Trust me, I know what you're saying on that not being a good way to gauge anything; but if he wants to he should be able to break loose in 1st no matter what the condition.

Ok, maybe I should have explained better. The butt dyno definitly isn't the most accurate, but I can definitly tell when it feels that much different. Clutch isn't slipping. I've verified this many times with the tach. When I floored it in first going that slow it was only for about 2-3 seconds then I let off due to being in a small parking lot. If I stayed on it they would spin. When it's colder it's instant burnout due to the 1 legger, cold street, and super steep first gear. That's not the major issue here. It was mostly the car felt very slow in the other higher gears at the same rpm/gear/mph I would punch it before. Today on the way to work it was 54* and everything was back to normal. Pulled hard and everything. On the way back from work it was 86 and the car was again slower, BUT WOULD SPIN THE TIRES FROM A SLOW ROLL IF I STAYED ON IT. Yes a burnout is definitly not a good judge at all for performance. I was just stating it along with the other stuff I noticed, and maybe I shouldn't have even mentioned it at all. I know that the warmer tires will stick better then a cold one. I also know that TOO warm of a street tire will spin a lot. While I'm no professional drag racer I have raced at the track more then I would like to remember over the last 6 or so years. This is part of the reason why you should never do a burnout with street tires before you run. They tend to get greasy and have worse traction. So weather just seems to impact my car more then previous cars, even other forced induction cars that I've owned. I might throw on a scan tool and do a WOT blast with the a/c on to see if it disengages. So that's my analysis. Nothing wrong with the car, it's just a little bitch with hot weather.
