Do I need to start the engine? How do I clean complete intercooler?

does the coolant flow towards the driver side in the filler neck (infront of the supercharger)? if so you fine. and you dont need to start the motor. just disconnect 1 hose from the heat exchanger and put the hose in the filler neck and flush. then fill and check the consistency of the coolant make sure its good for your winter weather. you can get a coolant consistency checker (dont know what its called) at any auto parts store.

I should start the engine in order to get all coolant out of the heat exchanger (with any hose end of the heat exchanger disconnected)?

I drained the entire ic system: Removed one hose of the heat exchanger, flush in the filler distilled water and unscrew the bleeder valve in the top of the heat exchanger to release pressure. I even put my mouth in the filler neck and start blowing to flush down everything in the h/e. Finally, I put the 50/50 Prestone/ destilled water into the filler neck slowly until the cold line in the filler neck. But as I was finishing pouring the white milky liquid start appearing again...I start the engine and it mix up again. I check the oil to and it was on minimum level but brownish...I dont know..what it is? what are other test to see if head gasket is blown?

if its your s/c cooling system it never comes in contact with you head gasket only your engine cooling system comes in contact with the gasket. is it thick/foamy or liqiud like it should be. make sure your coolant mix wont freeze or you will have problems. i say just take to the dealer for a flush if your unsure.

Well, at least I dont have to worry about a blow head gasket.

We are talking about intercooler system of the s/c which has the milky liquid.

I'm using Prestone Extended Life Coolant which has the same properties of Dex-Cool on a 50/50 mix:

Give freezing protection down to −34°F (−37°C).
Give boiling protection up to 265°F (129°C)

And only difference is the color and on the bottles it says "mix with ANY color antifreeze"

So, what could be the milky white foaming? If is not oil and I already drain coolant.

Thanks, good idea really...

Tried it,
Nothing happened...
Looked, Coolant was low and not circulating...
Added coolant,
Still nothing,
Screwdriver,
Nothing....

OAT (Outside Air Temp) = 60F
IAT2 = 130 to 140 during normal non-boost driving....

Ya, I think I have a dead pump.
It seems the power steering motors are more
reliable then these pumps, and they recalled
those. Haha
Makes me think/wonder though,
How does one even suspect, or wonder,
to even check if one does not have an interceptor
gauge to tell them their IAT2s are high?
I think my pumps been out for a week at least,
and its been driving fine. My Knock Retard has been
0.0 and steady. Of course ive been takeing it easy as
well.

I think mine went out this week. Idling IAT2 were 130*-140* (here its like 10-25* out) I thought all the Coolant leaked out of my cooler because I just replaced the Radiator from damage. But when I went to add coolant, it filled the neck up right away like it was full. Couldnt get the coolant down even after squeezing the hoses.
We tried tapping on the pump but no results.

Im thinking about getting the BOSCH pump from OTTP. Anybody know if it has a higher flow rate than the stock?

The BOSCH is the OEM part. We share the same HE pump as the 03 Cobra (Sometimes it is cheaper to get it through the Ford dealers...).

According to ZZP, the BOSCH pump is capable of an insanely high flow rate... but the way our stock H/E system is setup happens to be highly restrictive. Dual pass lets it flow more.

That being said, the Cobalt likes to burn the pumps up...

Thanks!

Side Note: I was told Dual Pass was really pointless by another member here. He said a bigger H/E is better because DP doesnt really help much

Well... a dual pass alone is not the greatest if you're using just the stock HE. The optimal setup is Dual Pass, larger HE and Option B.

I installed my new pump (the hose clamps were terrible to remove). However, I had to end up cutting off the original hose clamps and it damaged the supply and return hoses for the intercooler pump. Does anyone know where I can get the two hoses that connect to the pump? The stock tubes have custom bends in them, and when I tried to use over-the-counter tubing, it could not do the 90 degree bend without folding over. Any help on purchasing replacement tubes would be appreciated.
Thanks
Eric

just so you know the supercharger cooler system is seperate from the engine cooling system.

I have no way to moniter my iat2's but i know my pump is working. Problem is i have a leak and when i fill the sc cooling system it just leaks out. The actual engine cooling is fine. What are dangers of driving with no coolant in the sc cooling system. Btw my actual engine temp doesnt run higher than 180f. I live in Tucson, Az

Without coolant in the system, your IAT2s are probably through the roof (Given you're in AZ, probably 200*F+ IAT2). The engine coolant temp doesn't mean jack in regard to your IAT2... they're completely independent cooling systems.
