Pre turbo
We don't recommend this location at all, if you do not have the proper equipment, such as, the proper nozzle, nozzle size and high pressure pump. Locating the nozzle here is the most controversial location. The majority of alcohol/water injection users do not use this location. One reason for someone to inject at this location is the water/methanol mixture chemically alters the turbo compressor map. The water/methanol injection will dynamically shift the compressor map of the turbo, so that the compressor map exhibits the characteristics of a larger turbo. This sounds great but, the main issue with pre-turbo nozzle placement is what mixture can damage the compressor blade if the mixture is not properly atomized when passing through the turbo.

In order to inject pre-turbo with out compressor damage you need a high quality low volume nozzle and high enough pressure to get the water as finely misted as possible, and the smaller nozzle which allows for smaller/finer water droplets. We recommend you mount the nozzle as close to the compresser as possible.

I could definitely see that being caused by poor atomization. Water no like compression

 

But ive also seen people run unintercooled with meth pre turbo. Obviously nothing lasts forever

 

I have thought about it for myself but only for a 60 to 100cc nozzle

 

gonna run 2 small nozzles pre turbo, like two 2gph. running a 250psi pump. only going to have it kick on above 30psi.
plus I have a really efficient intercooler setup on the car already. at 32psi I get about ambient iat2's as it is. turbo I have isn't really good up that high, so why not extend the map with a little meth for now. if it kills the turbo, so be it, something bigger goes in. Know a lot of ls1 guys running preturbo setups for a while now, even will be running one on my 88mm turbo'd trans am in the spring

 

Whats your intercooler setup?

 

zzp lnf one. rest of turbo setup it ottp kit.
works just as well as my old hahn one did.

Have you looked into the end tanks of their intercooler? Was wondering if they use a high density core or not.

I'm still not a fan of pre turbo meth and I had great results with post on my k04r but i guess if it wrecks your turbo you have an excuse to upgrade!
