I give up :/

I don't think I've ever been as infuriated working on a car as I was/am today. Attempting to put on a ZZP Stage 3 kit on my 06 SS/SC today I ran into a bunch of different problems. Nothing wrong with ZZP's products, just my bad luck with my car. Now after trying different things for 2 hours I could not get the belt back on.

The belt came off easy with the 15mm wrench, but when I went to put it back on it wouldn't budge, the wrench would just slip. After coming on here and searching, I found different ways to try this. I hammered a 9/16 on and that would just slip off when I pushed hard enough. I tried this several times with not budge. I tried un-bolting the supercharger again and placing the belt around the pulley and then bolting it back up, but that didn't work and almost lost the 2 guides that are on the intake for the supercharger and might have screwed up the gasket. I HOPE there are only 2 guides... one on the top left, and on the bottom right, that way I know I didn't lose any.

I guess tomorrow I will try to have someone press down with a crowbar while I try to pull the belt on. Theres not alot of room with the oversized tensioner pulley.

No idea. I don't have the oversized tensioner pulley (guessing you got it from zzp). I'm use to the base model tensioner. You don't really loosen the bolt on the tensioner I guess. You just put the socket or some just the 3/8th or 1/2 inch wrench with no socket and you pull the wrench and it pulls the tensioner to loosen up the belt. Not sure how the oversized tensioner is designed.

Lol, I tried that and didn't work. I'm either doing something really wrong or missed something.

Thanks for the info everyone. I will try out the new ideas tomorow.

Can anyone confirm for me that there are only 2 guides on the intake for the supercharger?

i found with the tensioner tis easier to get it to move if you push down on it more than back towards the firewall

Yes there are two guides. Get a T-50 torx bit and pop off the cover that's on the tensoner pulley and use a wrench to loosen it. It's really not that hard.

get a needle nose pliers and push the tensioner pulley down " it will go down all the way" it'll do it easily..whats bad about this is that the tensioner pulley will have some light bends in it but u can even them out with a flat head screw driver....ive replaced my pullies like 20 times already and the tensioner pulley is still holding great...

YES.

Top left, bottom right.

NO.

There is a cover on the tensioner pulley that will pop off, and reveal a T-50 torx bit, yes. However, if you crank on that bolt, it is going to come loose. It is not meant to relieve stress from the belt. It comes on very tight from the factory to hold the pulley on, not as a tension relief tactic. It might work a few times, but that bolt will break loose eventually and you will be stuck looking for a new method. Trust me.

i always used a crowbar... Then i bought a adjustable tensioner that has a reverse threaded bolt for the pulley so that you can use for relieving belt tension

use the end of a tire iron to pry the tentioner down by placing the top on the tentioner pulley and the bottom under the pully of the supercharger, push down on the top then when its fully down, place a deep socket in between that piece where the 15mm goes on and the thing above it. thats what i did and it worked like a charm. If i did that to begin with, i would have saved myself 4hrs, bloody knuckles and alot of cursing.

Heres a quick pic to help you... and yes that is blood...

if using a crowbar, i always stuck the straight end of the crowbar under the upper motor mount and pry down on the tensioner pulley. make sure the belt is on the tensioner pulley though so it dont mess the ribs up

I stick a flat prybar and pry it down then i take a thick ass screw driver and put it between the motor and where the pulley pivots which is directly right of that line. you can get it in there good enough to prevent the pulley from going back and the belt slides on... takes me 10 second to do it this way.
u can see right where those 6090 numbers are or whatever they say

edit: whoevers camcover that is needs to get that **** powdercoated lol

yea that was mine, i sanded it down really nice and polished it during the fall of one year, but then the salt from the winter ruined it and i wanted to grind it down abit smoother, but used WAY to corse of a sand paper wheel. Never got around to fixing it.

LOL, now after test driving I think something else is up. I'm almost at 20psi when WOT in 2nd and 3rd. My only mods are K&N typhoon intake and ZZP stage 3 with 2.8. Reading on here makes it seem like that's way too high and something is restricted. I'm going to order a catted downpipe this week to see if that helps.

At the rate it's taking me to fill the new H/E I should be done sometime next week, haha
