I need help, and advise...

I have an 06 SS/SC and I need a few questions answered. My car is at the end of its warranty and I am starting to do some upgrades.

I am thinking of getting the stage 1 kit and an aftermarket pulley 2.8" I suppose.

I looked all over the forums and could never really find a straight answer about the debate of the stage 1 kit making the car run lean with a smaller pulley. I was wondering if there was any validity to this anymore?

I'll be taking the car to get dyno'd the same day I get the stage 1 and pulley put on and they are going to run it with a wide band on to check the AFR. No one really around me that I know of offers any type of comparable stage kit/retune that will pass emissions or is comparable in price to the gm stage 1.

I was wondering if this is a good idea, I have been saving my money for a while to do this and I would really like some advice before I spend that money.

So far the things I have, or are getting before I put the kit on are. xtc 3" CAI, custom mandrel bent 2 1/2" cat-back exhaust with a universal magnaflow muffler on it, and a 2 1/2" electric exhaust cut out. Any assistance or advise would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
David

If your warrenty is about to end you should get the 60 lbs injectors instead of the 42.5 lbs from GM but anyways if you do you get the stage 1 kit you can run up to a 2.8 or bigger pully with it nothing smaller. but you will also need a hub for the pully and the and the stage 2 belt any other questions i can help you answer i will feel free to help ya

Well if I was to get the 60# injectors, I would need to find some place to retune my car. The problem I am having is finding a place to reflash it like I could get with one of the GM stages.

also, I have seen some vendors offering reflashes but it requires you to make in your ecu and I can't be with out my car for more than like 1 day. I also don't know how to change out the injectors ect.

Not to bust your bubble but I called 8 Chevy dealers before I found one to reflash my car with a stage kit.

You might think about buying HP tuners and having somone send you a tune VIA email for your 60's.

Just a thought...

My local stealership will do the stage kit + retune for $150 All I need to do is furnish the kit. I don't know how these other tunes effect emissions, the laws are fairly strict where I live. If I could I would just get one of the stage kits from cobalt-addiction (I don't know how these would effect emissions) and just mail them my ecu but then I don't have a car to drive to work in while it sits.

Well, I know in mass, THey don't do a sniffer test on any OBD2 car, they just scan the computer for codes. SO if your computer isn't throwing any codes I don't think you have anything to worry about.

With you being in Houston, I'm sure there is someone who could help you out....you need to get on south central section and see who's down there willing to help you out.

There's a lot of controversy of going with 42.5 lb injectors and a 2.8 in pulley. Some say the lowest you can go is 2.9 with 42.5 lber's.

Well, IF I could find someone to put in 60#s and do a retune + 2.8" pulley i'd be all for that since it would come out cheaper than going thru GM and get more power. What is this south central section you speak of?! I'm fairly new to these forums.

There is a shop in Dallas called SScartuning that will tune your car for you. They are a supporting vendor here on the forums. All you would have to do is drive to Dallas on a Friday afternoon; get tuned on Saturday and then head back.

Or.....it sucks, but you could get someone to make you a canned tune for your setup based on what other people have. I would only resort to this if you have no other choice and from what I just said above, it looks like you have a good choice.

Edit: I also believe they have a deal where they will install Stage II for you and street tune your car for around $200.00 which is nice. Instead of stage II they could install whatever setup you want and I bet you'll get a good deal.
