i have also been looking in to different options and different cams - i would very much like it if someone could post their particular impressions of certain cams/valvetrain setups.

thanks!

When you upgrade the cams you have to upgrade your valvetrian as well. It will be a little more than you want not to crazy.

Buy the GMRacing camshaft blanks, and send them out for a custom grind at Flowtechnicsonline.com

do some research then.

find a cam with the appropriate lift needed to support your power goals, with an effective rev range that you like.

jbp cams don't have a sensor that you need. you will have some problems. If your are an ss/sc.

I could have sworn it was already said that the jbp cams are for the 2.2 ecotecs and that if you put them on the ss/sc, you will be missing a cam sensor. Someone else can elaborate if they want. That's about all I know. I'm not going with cams anytime soon.

The comp cam are the ones that are for the 2.2's, and if an ss/sc uses them, they lose the cam sensor from what I understand. But it just makes it hard to start the car sometimes. Like instead of having to crank over once or twice to start, it may take 5-10 times. From what I have heard.

the only "sensor" i know of that would stop a car from starting would be a crank position sensor, and that's built into the head, and would notice a dot ground into the cam. is it really that hard to fix?

also, these blank cams, would they be compatable? i don't like the idea of a regrind.

NOTE: GMR cams are blanks....hence you have to send them out to be ground...so depending on what you get ground, you could end up with a realy crumby cam for your application if you have no idea what to get (but mostly the company that's grinding them will steer you in the right direction and give you a lot of options)

They are our cams, but blank. And they would not be "regrind" since they are blank...They are fresh and you can put any grind on them that you please. Hope that helps

Edit: Wait a second...am I wrong? <---serious question

if you have an lsj your stuck with two options.

re-grind the stockers or run the car with no CPS and be forced to crank the car over for long periods of time each time you want to start it. due to having to fault out the system each and every time.

blanks, comp, ect all lack the needed key way in the cam.

company's that have tried to company the gm cam often get the key way located incorrectly and it throws CPS codes all day.

Rebel mentioned that they may be able to get a few sets made though their GM contact... but I wouldn't hold out for it.

HHAHAHAHAHAHHA, they would have to take donations first to get the R&D going for the cam regrind. Then, instead of doing the math and figuring out the specs that they would sell, they would just wing it and when they end up selling cams that don't have the right key hole and the grinds are all wrong, you would just be **** out of money and no cams cause you had to send them your stock ones to be regrinds. lol.
