I want to swap my Tranny
I've been told that the TC's have better tranny's and can be put on the SC's. Is there any truth to this? If so, anyone know of any web sites that sell the tranny's? Also, if i do go ahead and buy a new tranny, would it be wise to buy one with a Limited Slip Differential? All help is appreciated.
I think its good for me to note that i am not very car savvy, but i love to learn & have only been able to start learning because i bought this car myself and never had a car to work on and learn until i bought this one.

It has a stronger case and yes a LSD would be a good thing...another thing that is different is the final drive gear. Go to car part.com and you can find some used ones possibly

The following is assuming that the cars are Identical except the transmission's final drive ratio. (note that the transmission has a few gear raitos, this is assuming they are all identical other than the FINAL DRIVE RATIO)
1. The 4.05 will accelerate faster (assuming 100% traction) than the 3.81.
2. The 3.81 will have a higher top speed. This is true as far as the top overall speed and the top speed in a specific gear. Say the 4.05 hits 20mph top speed at redline in 1st. The 3.81 will redline traveling faster than 20mph... (This is where the term gear length comes from, so the SC has a "shorter gear")
3. The 3.81 will have better MPG "Cruising" and will be at a lower engine RPM at any given speed than the 4.05 in an identical gear. (Similar to #2.)
EDIT:
Haha i thought i was confusing, so i deleted and re-submitted a better breakdown... Happy to help i guess :p

not always true. it is commonly thought that a numerically lower high gear will give better economy, really thats an old line of thinking coming from the era before overdrive transmissions. yes, in your old car with a 4 speed stick, a 3.73 ratio will get worse fuel economy than 3.55s. its all about keeping the car in its best efficiency range. ever notice that some cars will get better economy at 75mph than at 65 or 70? thats just because the engine is in its best efficiency range for cruising. its not always the lowest rpm possible.
