What are some good companies that make decent heat exchangers? I heard something about a cobra, but I looked and couldn't find anything.
Edit: lol, theres more dsms in the garage. Also, no shells to sell, but if you are serious about buying one I know a guy that usually has a few laying around. What do you want? 1g, 2g, eclipse, talon, or laser?

I think there have been some people that have used Fluidyne HE's... and there is a company that just started posting on this site advertising for theirs.
Cobra HE's are gonna be the cheapest. You can usually pick those up on ebay for as little as $75.
I'm looking for a project car (SLP car). I'd LOVE to have either a White Talon 2g or a Red Eclipse 2g. But I'm sure I'd settle for a 1g Talon... actually, if i got a 1g... I'd want a Laser. You never see those around these parts.

I'll probably go with that then. Also, lol at my stupidity. The brackets wouldn't be an issue, I've been mounting intercoolers for years. Approximately how much whp do the cobra H/E's support?
Edit: The red car in the background is a red laser. I'll be selling it here shortly, but its not awd turbo. Its got a 4G63 in it though

It'll support enough.

I've already got a FWD. Now I want a RWD or an AWD.

My dad has a 92 awd talon with an fp3065. Beside the point, there were a couple of black 92 awd lasers, one was 3 something, the other was about 6500. This was a couple years ago. I'll check to see if theres any still around.

I'm at work and late for a mtg, so I didn't have time to read the whole thread,
But where you at in MI? I'm in Lansing, but send me a PM sometime, I could probably disassemble and rebuild an SS/SC in my sleep by now, lol

I appreciate the offer, but If anything ever happened, I would probably do the work myself. I wont hesitate to contact you with any questions though. I'm where 75 splits into 275, about an hour and a half from Lansing (well, depends on how fast you drive). I realize that 6500 is expensive for a 92 laser, and I thought the same thing. But after I saw pictures of the car, I would have spent that on this car. It looked like it was just modified, then put in storage for if not most, all of its life.
Theres a couple of dsms near your area here http://www.xceedspeed.com/forums/for...=31&order=desc

Yeah... I need to become a member on Xceedspeed. I'm usually on ToledoTuners.com... and a lot of them speak highly of that site. I'm just a member of too many sites... haha.

I looked for an FD rx7 on toledo tuners, but didn't particularly care for the layout. Also, click here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/cowl-induction-hood-100179/

Hmm, I'll have to check it out. Also, I ordered a Fujita intake. I normally weld up my own intakes, but I figures since the guy before me bought the names, rather than the products.. I would follow so everything would match the car. Also, I used fujita because its a 3 inch. I'm thinking about using the heat exchanger from CX Racing, only have them custom tailor one for it be a little bit wider. I would like the core to cover the whole opening in the fascia.

I thought about that too^^
But the benefit of having the cobra, is that I still have ~3.5-4.5" inbetween my cobra and the stock exchangers, so they all still get adequate air flow. Just a thought.
You'll be happy with the Fujita intake. I bought the CA model because it was 3: as well, and much cheaper, but on the downside it's a 2 piece intake where the Fujita is a single.

I hope your right about me liking it. I never spent that much on an intake in my life. Usually I have a whole custom welded system for under $100. With the cobra HE, you just run that in series with the factory one correct? I'm thinking if I get one big enough, I will just use one, and save on the headaches. Also, how do the lines connect to the S/C? Are they a fitting, or is there just a bung that a hose slips over, and gets clamped to. I would like to us aluminum aeroquip fittings with braided stainless line.

And yes the Cobra HE is run in series with the stock unit. I dunno about running just one, I'd imagine the stock HE is a nightmare to remove, as it is wedged inbetween the AC condensor and the radiator. SO unless you can pull it out to shave a couple pounds I think you'd be better off leaving it in the loop. But hey it's worth a shot, right?
Here's my install thread That should help ya see what is needed for plumbing.

Thanks for the link to the install. I will pull the old one out when I put a new one in, the work to do it isn't that big of a deal. For me, the simpler, the better. Will I have to do any pump tweaks after the install?

Lingenfelter.com offers an Intercooler pump.
http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/boschh2ic.html
And as far as the Fujita goes... that's what I have. I enjoy it... but fitment can be a pain in the ass. Especially with trying to tighten the clamps that are right in the opening to the fender well, and making sure that it is properly sealed, etc etc etc.

This pump is a heavy duty coolant circulation pump that can be used as a reliable intercooler pump. The pump will flow 8 GPM with no restriction or 5-6 GPM with a normal intercooler system. Many pumps we tested flowed more at no restriction but dropped off quickly when used in testing. Our testing showed this was the highest flowing pump for use in an automotive application. The motor on this pump is linked to the pump assembly and impeller shaft via a magnetic coupling. This means that no shaft connect the two systems and eliminates shaft seal failures. This pump is designed for continuous operation and is very durable and is the same pump we use on our Gen II liquid to air intercooler systems on the C6 Corvette.
Includes a rubber isolated bracket and is very quiet in operation.
Rated flow: 5.5 GPM at 4.4 psi
Nominal operating voltage: 12 Volts DC
Maximum coolant temperature: 275 degrees F
Inlet / outlet fitting size: ¾ inch

Hmm, interesting. I'll probably run the stock pump unless if it burns out. As I said before, this isn't intended to be my race car, just my daily driver.
