K&N Intake Dyno Results (Redline)

The K&N intake for the Redline was dyno'd with some promising results (20+ whp). I realize that it won't fit the SS but unless the air box on the SS is tuned much better than the one on the Redline from the factory, the SS should see some good gains with aftermarket intakes as well.

"Well I finally got of my phat azz and took some more pictures of the intake. I have had this dyno since December but did not want to release this until K&N posted there product on there web page . Anyways my car made 189whp with the stock intake and paper element. It was a 4th gear pull at 2000 rpms.done at 10:21 a.m on 12/08/04 the second run was with the intake. It made 211 max whp with the intake . done 2 hours later in 4 th gear at 2000 rpms. Torque was 174 stock and 191 with the intake. This product does work. I test drove a 2005 and you can notice the difference in how much more it pulls and runs through the gears. Anyways enjoy and I hope the people at K&N don't get made."

The dyno says it got about 11 HP gain. Thats pretty good for an aftermarket intake. Yeah I checked into it to see if it would fit on the SS/SC and your right it won't

^ ^ ^ I can't see why it wouldn't fit it is the same engine setup, maybe it would need some modifiaction to get around hoses and ****.

It was good to see a broad increase over much of the RPM band in both Hp and Tq.

Wow thats awesome - Thats a huge difference just from installing an intake. Most intakes give about 7HP at the wheels, but 20 more wheel HP??? Awesome

Hopefully K&N will be able to modify the kit to work with the Cobalt SS S/C - definitely worth the money for those kinds of gains, even if it is a little pricey. Plus being that it is a K&N it should be excellent quality and have the 1 million mile warranty

I think it sees more gain then most because its a boosted car. More air means more power, and nothing is going to need more air then a boosted car.

Well the redline picks up it's air from inside the front bumper and the Cobalt from inside the driver side tire well. The plumbing is different from the throttle body to the air filter. Would it fit the cobalt ss/sc, maybe but it certainly wasn't designed too.

Yeah that was a nice dyno sheet right there. Good to see 211 HP to the wheels.

I already asked the same (dumb? ) question. It's just a small filter in the intake itself. All you have to do is loosen one hose clamp on the part of the intake going over top of the engine and you'll find a paper element in there. Haven't looked in there myself, but that's what I was told.

Wow, i didn't know that. i guess those are the benefits of havign the car sitting in the driveway, you can go out and look at it. I know for the RL it's pretty easy to custom fab a short ram that goes to the bumper, i'll have to take another look at the 'balt.

To access the air cleaner you actually do need to remove the wheel and then remove a small panel, take of the bottom of the airbox and then pull of the air cleaner, VERY restrictive I might add) then put it all back together...
