keeping stock muffler

I'm trying to decide on what I want to do later on and I'm thinking about going with a custom 3" exhaust, mandrel bent of course. Now my question is that I always hear of people getting the stock muffler welded on, which would be cool because I don't want anything loud, but wouldn't that basically create a bottleneck at the end of the exhaust since the stock exhaust is 2.5?

yes it would bottleneck the **** out of it. dont do it. there are alot of ways to have a quiet and good flowing exhaust, keeping restriction isnt one of them
