your not adding that much air. the engine can only bring in so much. the reason for cold air induction is to bring in colder, denser air.

so are you argueing the fact that this happens all the time and we all know the cause? dense air means more air compact into a space. meaning more molecules meaning you will run lean.....

do not listen to these noobs if u have the lean code your car isn't actually running lean the computer is reading the wrong maf reading maybe because of a leak from a coupler. If someone tunes u for 11.5 and u fix the leak or whatever then your a/f will be totally different . Check for leaks from the couplers or clamps...

yeah, i'm finding it hard to imagine that it would run so lean as to do damage. it can't be running more than just very little over stoic you would think.

An intake isn't going to change anything so drastically that it's out of the stock tunes ability to compensate.

you can use a k&n intake on an 07' .... it's not that the 07 computer is more sensitive .... it's the fact that in 07 they placed the brake lines in a different orientation in the engine bay and the k&n will rub on them.

1) intake leak
2) clean the MAF
3) cobalts have been known to throw random p0171 codes with some intakes due to the positioning of the MAF. but you have the K&N and they have been known to not throw codes

and what the hell does that have to do with a p0171 code?

what i need is experienced people with 07 ss/sc's or someone who has dealt with this before to please advise me on what i should do. help please.

also, if it is running hot, could that be monitored by the coolant? i'm guessing no, but it's worth the asking. i find it very hard to believe i'm running lean, i still get a good ammount of black carbon around the bumper where the muffler tip is.
BLAZIN07SS ^ that's what it has to deal with !!!! i was responding to what he said .... read before you post ....

and for the lean code .... alot of people have gotten the lean code from installing an intake on a stock ss/sc. sometimes people forget to unplug the battery before installin the intake .... others place the mass air flow sensor in upside down ....

here we go .... i found a new ******* on this site .... i was letting him know that the reason that they didn't list a k&n intake for 07 wasnt because of a sensitive computer, it was because of the brake lines. read what he wrote ****** .... he asked if anyone had delt with them on an 07' i have. i was sinply lettin him know why they dont list an 07 k&n intake ....
