Lsj transmission talk

I've been hearing about a lot of LNF transmission deaths lately and I got thinking, is it all that common with LSJ's? I've never heard of a big turbo lsj breaking a transmission. Many LNF deaths are due to: quick spooling ZFR, 3.82 GR, very strong clutches. As an lsj, with a 4.05 there is less stress. I'm just trying to get a feel if upgrading my LSJ trans is something that needs to be done sooner than later.

574 thinking out loud, built auto vs. F40...

I think the LNF trannys go out due to the No lift shift deal they have. Heard it really takes a toll on them.

Auto really does take the fun out of it, I agree 100%. But no one has really explored that option, iirc Ryan from zzp is running one

4t65hd, transmission build, custom axles, custom transmission and engine mounts, making the VSS work, transmission controller, transbrake, torque converter. adds up REALLY quick

Just go the 4t45e route, ZZP has one on their website. Most of the parts can be sourced from GM to make it work, few people have done it. Lot cheaper than 4t65ehd.

Esp easier for me being an HHR, everything down to wire harness and computer are available since the car came with it from factory.

Not sure why everyone hates on the auto, will get great E.T.s. But if you are stuck on manual, F40 without a doubt. Will hold the power better than an F35.

It should have been in the drivetrain section, I didn't think about it. I am just trying to get a feel for how durable the 4.05 is

they go out due to the final drive3.82 puts to much stress on the gear set if it had a 4.05 or a 4.45 the torque multiplication from the lower final drives would put less stress on the gear sets

It sucks GM outsourced the trans instead of developing one specifically for these cars.

He is 16 also ? Auto is faster, but sucks the fun out of driving, unless in a straight line IMO.
