Did not know that, there are actually a couple in my area junkyards that have manual trans for that year/car around the 300-500 mark. Some low mileage ones too.

Agreed. Standard rocks for daily driving. I couldn't see myself driving an auto in the winter.
Be proud of bmartz for actually knowing how to drive standard for his generation. I am a firm believer standard drivers pay more attention to driving than auto drivers do.

To each his own. If my car was auto, it would maybe get driven once a month, maybe. I just don't enjoy an auto trans. Also, for me, my car only goes to the track once a year. Sure it would be faster on the street too, but I would not enjoy it near as much. I purchased the F40, but the 4.45 is a nice option as well. My friend has CMillers old 4.45 in his LNF and it is a great setup.

No, was a little bit metallic and trans fluid numbs your mouth pretty fiercely. lol
I wont ever go auto trans, if I ever get to the point where I cant keep manual transmissions in the car, Ill find a way to front the money to have a dog gear transmission built. Evos and DSMs have been using them for years and years now, they can pick them up for about $5k. Wish our market would have expanded that far by now but it hasnt.

To each his own. If my car was auto, it would maybe get driven once a month, maybe. I just don't enjoy an auto trans. Also, for me, my car only goes to the track once a year. Sure it would be faster on the street too, but I would not enjoy it near as much. I purchased the F40, but the 4.45 is a nice option as well. I figured that thing was long gone by now.

Maybe not dieing if you're out in farmsville. But I think less people know how to drive stick aswell as manufacturers making less standard less of an option. Maybe there is small surges tearly but in the overall scheme auto will take over with technology growing.
Not sure what it's like in China maybe their car surge has tons of people using stick.

Has anyone seen or done an F23 trans swap? My friend Kevin (Kennyspec on here) did it after chewing through a few 3rd gears with his Lsj turbo. But didn't use it for long before his meth quit and the motor popped. So he gave up and bought a new Camaro. The gearing is considerably lower than an F35 trans.

Auto = man card revoked. 
Go with a cryo'd F40 and a few upgraded trans parts if you can dish out the money. Spending it once on the right thing is a hell of a lot better than going through a few F35's unless you have good luck with them. I heard that 6th gear is pretty great to have too in the F40.
And all this stuff about auto's shifting faster is pretty true. Although if you're good at it and, not to sound like a douche, even remotely comparable to how quickly someone like myself can shift then you shouldn't have a problem hanging with the auto shifting cobalts for the most part. Never going to be as smooth with a manual though but why take the fun out of a car with an auto? I think this would be a different conversation if you're talking paddle shifters vs manual. The auto's in the Cobalts I have driven weren't that great..

I don't know the guys name but I've seen the car floating around a few times. It's a cavy that has a ton of custom fab work and he's making it into a drag car. I asked him what trans he is running and he said f23..
