LSJ turbo swap questions
Hello,
Im planning on doing the Turbo swap on my cobalt ss supercharged.
I have a few questions,
The car has 119k would that be okay?
Would i be able to do it myself (straight foward build?)
Would i need any modifications to the engine internally?
I currently have zzp stage 3 kit with their 3 inch catted downpipe and catback.
anything i need to know before ordering the lsj turbo kit from zzp? Includes everything to get the car completed?
would the car be fine as an everyday driver?
And anyone looking to buy the supercharger bolt off kit after installation?
I appriciate the help!
Thanks!!

idk, typically people convert at significantly lower mileage. A routine inspection will be your best bet (compression check, leak down test)

bolting everything on is a matter of having the right tools, a weekend, some buddies, and some beer. It helps to not have a wife that bitches about whether you're done yet.

Depends on your power goals and how badly you drove your car the past 119k miles. But essentially, no.

kiss the dp goodbye.

you will need to get your alternator's clutch welded, or get a 2.2 alternator. You need a 2.2 idler pulley/tensioner, and a 2.2 serpentine belt. Also, if you don't have these items already, you will need a wideband for tuning purposes, a mechanical boost guage (if you want to read boost higher than 20psi), an oil pressure guage to monitor oil pressures before the the turbo, and you will need to completely rework the PCV system. Don't skimp on the pcv system: i have a thread dedicated to my issue with this.

It's supercharged now, and it'll be turbocharged when you're done. As long as you have something pulling air into your engine, it'll be drivable. Arguably, it'll drive better as a t/c engine, as it started life as a turbocharged platform back when it was a SAAB engine. It really all depends on the tune and how much you get on it.

put it up for sell on jbody.org, redlineforums, here, and any other local forums that involve naturally aspirated cobalts. Someone will bite.

Just ask ZZP all these questions if you're going to be driving up there to pick it up, hell, have them install it haha I emailed them a long time ago and I'm pretty sure it was a fair price

Do you know if theres any welding that needs to be done with the purchase of the zzp turbo swap kit i mentioned? im seeing how everyone welds the oil feed line on their oil pan, does zzp's kit require that or anything like it welding wise?

How exactly do you install the pulley tensioner?

Just an FYI guys there is no need to get the alternator replaced or welded anymore. Just remove your stock pulley and put this one on. OTTP LSJ Alternator Pulley
