I have an Idea for this thread.

A Boost Controller is for Turbo.
A Blow Off Valve is for Turbo.

The reason a turbo has a wastegate is because there is no way to stop the turbine from overspooling without controlling the Hot side of the turbine. Once Max boost has been reached, the wastegate dumps some exhaust away from the turbine to maintain its speed. The MBC and EBC are used to control the wastegate.

Now on a SC car, you don't have to worry about this because you are limited by the pulley. Here is the thing... the way the MBC is being hooked up here does allow you to reduce the pressure that your car will get without it. It works the opposite way that it does on a turbo.

Normally on a turbo, the Wastegate spring is set to a certain PSI and a Controller allows to go higher by leaking some of the wastegate supply line out.

So on the SC now we are "Leaking" the signal that will open the By-Pass to compensate for the smaller Pulley?

The EBC will not work the way you plan, the readout will not be useful because it's not hooked into the system to a wastegate. The By-Pass cylinder isn’t a wastegate. It's does the opposite to a wastegate, It's basically functioning like a Turbo By-Pass valve to decompress the Supercharger when not required..

EBC Will Not Work on a SC as it is set up to alter a WASTEGATE.

MBC Not Required if You have a stock Pulley.
MBC Will only lower your boost on a SC Car
MBC Will Only Raise your boost on a Turbo Car.

You could turn down the boost lower than 12 PSI ONLY if you use the MBC without passing through the by-pass valve SELENOID.

Sorry to bring the thread back from the dead but I just ordered one. My car is running way to lean with the 2.8 pulley and psi-fi powerpak. I am going to turn the boost down to 15-16psi and see how it runs. Right now the car falls on it's face in the upper rpm's.

do u have to use a MBC or Electronic boost controller .im new to cobalt i just wanna

It helps you controll the maximum boost your smaller supercharger pulley will achieve. It's way safer than any other by-pass mod because you're sure that the pressure in the manifold will never exceed the pressure YOU have set the MBC. It's very cheap and easy to adjust.

Here is the way to do it :

Just install one MBC (like the 3/16" fitting size model in the following link; any color will fit LOL ) ...

http://www.boost-controller.com

... on the hose pointed by the yellow arrow in the following link (photo was copied from another user on another forum (thanks) since I have no camera :

http://www.putfile.com/jmc007

So the way to do it is to let the hose plugged just like stock, but to cut this very hose in the midlle and plugg the MBC on each side of the hose.

Hope this help !

I saw sowm pics of how to install, on the bottom hose of your buttlerfly selenoid thingy shitty, you take it out, put the MBC in the middle and then the connect the hose back to the Selenoid. You can use an extra hose or you can cut the one you currently have. I would take pics but my car is at the shot right now.

and yes thats the one, but u can also just type Manual boost controller on ebay and get one for like 10 dlls shipped. So dont waste 30 dlls on that one because in the end they are both cheap. lol and will do the same thing.
