I agree with you totally, I have done one or two hard runs in my car and the IAT2 is near 180 and that scared me... Once the temps get any higher than that the car start pulling a ton of timing due to pre detonation .. Loss of a ton of power quick, and thats where the engine cant hold as well... but that is in some cases, not all....
Hope your car did just blow the intake mani gasket like mine did... good luck, keep posting!

How in the hell did you get your iat2's near 180??? I am assuming a small pulley and no cooling mods with back to back to back to back runs?
I couldn't hit 180 unless I intentionally emptied out my methanol tank, and did like 5 back to back runs.

well luckly urs still runs, mine motor completely shut down, wont crank over
that 2.6 pulley has got to go, completely out of efficiency, way to much heat and with our bottle neck intake manifold iam surprised you havent blown the head gasket

shawn this is what happened when mine blew at 55mph with cruise set. same delima. what happened was the number 4 piston leaned and cracked and it somehow caused some other piston rings to blow thus the dipstick kept blowing out covering everything in oil. dont think if it stops smoking very bad or running somewhat decent that it was nothing. its blown. mike has my number if you wanna give me a call and tell me excatly what happened.

sounds like you did what I did, and I blow out a piston ring on the #4, and I did do a compression test and it came out fine but it was a lower ring allowing oil to past by. well its winter a good time to tear it down and make it better.

Well going to start pulling the motor out...going to do a full build...going with a forced preformance FP3065 Ball Bearing Turbocharger...dyno chrat pit down 559WHP...so i'm hoping to get a little over 400WHP....gotta find someone who can make rods for these cars since no one makes them...

Ok well I will take them off of your hands, but if your in a hurry to get rid of them then go ahead. Its gonna be a little while until I get all the money to do everything...Im getting 15,000.00 in feb so i'm using 7000.00 on the build...If your willing to wait then thats cool....The heat exchanger 125.00 shipped....Also dont know what all happened yet, i think a head gasket maybe started it but i dunno b.c the compression was 200,185,180,200...and it should be with 10-15 of eachother...i will find out when i rid the motor apart, also i'm sending the tranny to TRE in Michigan to get fully built...so hopefully nothing else happens....knock on wood!!!!!!

i race mine all the time and i havent blown it up. I mean i dog the crap out of it too.
However, after data-logging long enough you know when to back off and treat her right every now and again. I would never have dropped below a 2.8, or 2.7 strictly for track. WOT runs i stick to max 30 seconds...then baby it for a while before getting on it again.
EGTs are HUGE. In fact, count on shutting it down after a dig run from 0-100+. or let it coast a bit before turning it back on. Yea, its annoying but prevents slow damage.
