missfire cyliner #1
SO i just had a stage 2 installed with a 2.9" pulley. I have a missfire on cylilnder 1 code and a case relearn code. My question is... After i do the case relearn do you think i will still have the missfire on cylinder #1???

ok stupid question but i couldnt find anything about this so ill ask it here....wtf is a case relearn? I'm trying to build my knowledge on tuning, my car has been tuned many times and never heard anything of a case relearn except for on the forums.

I would like to know as well more deeply what a case relearn does. And what CAN be dangerous if a case relearn is not done for the car when you do WOT pulls. I started a tread on this but not so much people answer it

When you perform a CASE (Crank Angle Sensor Error) learn the PCM records the *exact* relationship between the crank teeth and the crank angle sensor - for the current crank/sensor configuration.
It uses that information to detect the small acceleration of the crankshaft at the instant of each firing event. If a firing event does not occur the PCM will not detect the small crank acceleration and will log a misfire.

Oh if I understand well, the CASE relearn once done, permits the PCM to do some monitoring? More accurately, monitoring what you said...
So if the CASE relearn isnt done, the PCM will not be able to monitor that... SO is this a big concern if that "monitoring" is disabled (CASE relearn not done) ?
I started a tread on this, you can see this just below this one and one person mentionned that he didnt have any problem for many months, even if his case relearn wasnt done. Could that person be lucky or this is really not a problem to not do it?

^^^^^ x2 on that !! I wouldn't take my chances either ! And the case re-learn should typically only need to be re-done when putting in a new ecm. If tuning, like snake asked. A case re-learn shouldn't ever need to be done unless like i said, you install a different pcm other then your origanial one. I beleive thats my understanding of it anyways !

I had a stage 2 with a 2.9" pulley put in a few days ago and all i have noticed without having the crank relearn is that the car runs a little choppy. In lower rpms when you first get on the gas it bumps around a little bit. I have done a bunch of wot runs and everything seems to be running fine. Though it was a little risky i wanted to really feel what the stage 2 was doing and how much boost i was making. Im getting the relearn done on the weekend. Im not running aftermarket spark plugs. Is it necessary to run colder spark plugs with a stage 2?
