There are more issues with aftermarket intakes besides "looks." I bought and ran zzp's CAI for for at least a year until I read this article:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/tech...esting-307391/
After that I thought about it and did an airbox mod on my car, my blower was just as loud as when I had my zzp intake on. No real gains were felt/lost.
Lots of good info in that article and thread I'd take a look at it, as well as some of the other articles in that forum section to get some good info.
But it's your car/money do what you please with it, enjoy the placebo effect

I have lots of photos of the Time Attack car, and noticed it runs the production Donaldson air intake tubing. Did you guys also use the stock airbox & air filter? The reason I ask is, I'm starting to learn what a waste of money the Injen cold air intake or any cold air intake is for this car. I have tested a few different intakes on my car over the past 4 years, and noticed no further gains over the stock intake piping and K&N drop in filter.
After work this afternoon I plan on reinstalling my stock intake piping, slightly modified airbox (not a hack job modified airbox), and k&n drop in filter. The inlet of the Injen intake is only 2.75" o.d. and I feel it is seriously screwing with some parameters. The stock air box inlet is 3", and it still baffles me that Injen made the inlet smaller than stock. Let me know your thoughts when you get a chance.
Thanks,
Jeff
stock air box, cut the can off the lower part wrapped all of it including the inlet runner in silver reflective heat wrap, K&N filter. is all.
injen sucks
Redline air box (ex trailblaxer 5 cylinder) is best but could not fit on cobalt for packaging rad tie bar is too close, but would be interesting to try cheers

-What kind of power did it make on & off nitrous?
-Did you use a modified GMS3 tune?
-What size pulley did you end up running?
-What injectors were you using?
-What kind of power increase did you notice over the M62 with the H62 hybrid high helix blower?
I'm currently running one of the few high helix blowers on my car with a GMS3 tune & 73mm pulley, and would love to have it run like the time attack car one day. Maybe not so much handle like the time attack car, but def perform like it power wise.
Thanks,
Jeff
400 on nitrous, about 80 less without. Tuning was done by Lotus on the spot so not any specific tune but it was off the GMR stage 3 pcm
76 mm
key was light the car was built by us to about 2000 lbs so with driver 2200 pretty darn awesome that lite...the nitrous was the most evident power boost, Heinricy drove right off the track under braking the first time he activated it down the straight way he was not prepared for the speed it delivered
email qwikredline@hotmail.com I am not on here much at all cheers
John,
What injectors were used on the Time Attack Cobalt? Did you end up using the GMPP 42 lb/hr injectors?
Thanks.

Im far from a Powell nut hugger, but I believe the guy since he was there and was part of the development.
There were many postings of different hp ratings of the TA car because it was used for the street tuners challenge on the speed channel before it ran in the actual TA.

400 hp time attack car not interested. This is my summer DD. I'm not interested in spending tons of money to make a weak 400 hp. Good for that car but its unimpressive. If your not here to give me a hand on questions and just looking to be a tool who thinks there sweet bc they drive a cobalt just leave my thread please. I've been active on here for a few days and everyday it becomes more pathetic.
