More PSI???!

I just got my cobalt ss/sc back from the gm repair service (transmission) and now its pushing out more psi than before i brought it in. Before was about 10psi, now its a solid 12.5

Maybe this is a noob question but how much psi of boost should my stock 07 cobalt ss/sc be putting out?

12.5, if you had tranny issue like clutch slip your car will not get to the 12.5 due to the fact of no load on the engine.

Mods, location, altitude, & temp all have an affect on boost.

^^^^^^ this is it, but he stated it happened after it got back from the dealer and he said it got more boost which tells me it was his clutch. no load on engine.

Well I'm stock too, besides GMS2, on a 55°F night I should hit more than that, no?

And my clutch has zero slip.

No mods, and the clutch was fine. They did something with some bearing, i have to check the work oder again. They also did the power steering recall. Im in san diego, but i dont know what made it go to 12.5, no complaints, especially since that is where it should be

Okay, upon ripping on a back-road on my way home from work, I have, upon closer inspection, noticed that I hit the 3rd bar after 10psi. How much is this? And is this normal for GMS2?

Reason I say "3rd bar" is because I don't get our gauges.. 10psi, followed by 3 more bars, then 15psi. Like huh?

Here is a break down of the readings on our stock boost gauge. I agree that its tough to read (SS/TC has a nicer boost gauge). That's why I use my interceptor when I want a more precise reading.

It looks like you are making around 13.75-14 psi. Perfectly normal for GMS2.

Amazing. Thank you. You are one of the most helpful people I have come across since I've got my SS/SC, thank you for taking time to answer my questions.

If this site still had the "rep system", I would definitely give you some.

Remember boost is a measure of restriction. More boost does not always mean more power.

If youre on the stock pulley thats fine. What was the temp the day you saw over 12 psi? So many things affect your peak boost. Dont worry about it to much.

Aka, IAT's. Your first few pulls are usually going to boost higher, especially if you have no cooling mods. ..Right? I think..

Generally timing gets pulled when your IAT2's get retarded high. Cooling mods are a must on these cars. Once you go below a 3.0" pulley it is a good idea to start upgrading your cooling system.
