Unhappy Motor is shot..need some help//

well i found out why my motor wouldnt fire but only on cylinder 2...the mechanic said i had a busted sleeve laying in the oil pan and i had a bent crankshaft that it is rubbing the crank sensor and that i may have a bent rod...i bought the car knowing there was something wrong with the motor but i was told it was out of time or they didnt know what was wrong with it but i only gave 5 grand for it and its a 07 ss sc ...but i checked the compression and each cylinder has around 200 psi...so how could i have a busted sleeve or can ya?..and am i better off to fix the motor or buy one used for 1200.00 of zzp with 40 thousand miles on it and comes with everything but the intake and charger..i just believe the guy that checked it just wants money from me and telling me some stuff where im young and he thinks idk nothing about cars...after he said all of that i havent been up there to check it out or anything but he wants 1700.00 dollars to fix it all..how can he put sleeves and crank and rods under that much...it just sounds funny to me...please help..and can i take the motor out myself with the lsj book they got out ..i printed it out and stuff and its all step by step ...

If you have no previous exp with pulling a motor out of a car I would not suggest it, esp if you dont have a lift to assist you. Talk to ottp about a spare motor, I think they may have something.

If you have 200 psi of compression on each cylinder I highly doubt a busted sleeve. You can probably eliminate a mistiming too.

the gm build book is free by pdf, and does have instructions for the R&R. If there happens to be internals that you do need, which I've never heard of anyone jacking up a crankshaft, but I have one as a spare. Hopefully you don't, but get with someone that has the necessary means and tools, as well as experience to get it out.
