Hey not that im complainin, but when i rev the engine the boost gauge goes to 15 right in the line, when when i floor it and im moving so i get that little bit of resistance it hits the line between 10 and 15 which should be 12 or 13 ish. Just wondered if anyone else had the same thing. It got better as the engine broke in. Cause when i got it, it would only hit 9 when i floor it. I dont know, its running fine so im not complainin...

It is supposed to put out 12.5 lbs of boost, so I would say your car is normal!

usually on s/c cars the boost gauge will read + or - 1 psi. im not sure if ours does it but it could.

the "line" between 10 and 15 is 12.5 so I see nothing "special" about your cobalt....it's doing what it was designed to do, not trying to be an ass......

That's not the point he was trying to make. He said when he revs it, it hits 15. But when driving and he get's on it, he hits abuot 12.5.

The amount of boost you're going to get is dependant on alot of things, one of those being the temperature of the air. Hotter air = less dense = more "boost" you're going to find in the winter you get less PSI of boost because the air coming in is alot colder, hence more dense.

I wouldn't worry about how much boost you get when you're reving and not moving, if you're hitting 12.5ish when you step on it and the car is moving, then all is well.

werd, i didnt mean anything was getting hurt, just that normally you have to be under a load to get boost, though i know when i rev it in neutral i get some boost b4 i let off

I've actually never sat in my car reving it without being in motion to see if the boost gauge moves...I'll check after work to see what happens.

Theoretically if the engine isn't under any stress there's no reason to be going into boost

correction you will find in COLDER weather you can make more boost. And there is no reason AT ALL that your car will hit 15psi by just reving the engine. No load on the motor means that the blower doesnt have to work. At most the gauge will hit 5 reving the motor with no load.
