New Exhaust
I am about to purchase a 2006 Cobalt SS/Sc and i don't know what kind of exhaust i would like to have.
I would like it to be loud. Cat back and not cost more than $500. Any suggestions would be great.

check crateenginedepot.com for the GMPP catback. The touring is deeper and the performance is a little louder. I have the performance with the angle cut tip and love it. If you get it just make sure you pick up a tip also. If you plan on pushing serious power you may want a good 2.5" or 3" but if not the GMPP exhaust is perfect.

as long as you have the guy at the exhaust shop remove your resonator, and throw in some new piping, it really dosent matter what muffler you pick... it will be loud. the muffler will just change the tone.

Go to an exhaust shop. I will never buy a cat-back because its way overpriced. I got my whole exhaust done 3" mandrel bent for the price of a cat-back. I have no resinator and everyone that has heard my exhaust loves it. Its loud enough when it needs to be, and has a nice deap tone. I've got a Magnaflow 3" oval muffler on it and it couldnt sound any better.
