I still want to know how things like this will effect other vendors such as Rev it up that are using alternatives (other than the actual pcm) to tune the LSJ. It seems a lot of emphasis in their kits will be based soley for tuning purposes (i.e adding four extra injectors). So if HP tuners or someone else cracks the pcm wouldn't that change things dramatically and relieve some headaches...and possibly drive down the costs?

some people have actually completed the first part of the beta test, and they're about to try an updated version.

Yep , in emails with HPtuners they said they are VERY close with the LSJ .

Tofu- This should do nothing but help these companies . They will beable to offer PCM's on a exchange basis or they should also beable to email you a file to use with your own HPtuners software . I dunno about rev-it up , but Im pretty sure Intense uses HP software for the 3800 market , for them , I would assume its matter of just getting updates for their existing software to tune all LSJ pcm's . With the abilty to do what they want with the PCM tuning , I think its safe to say a kit like Intenses stg 3 would be good for 300 wp . Good news for everyone

*HOWEVER at this point it doesn't work for the Cobalt SS/SC, just the ecotec's in the alero, jbodys, ect*

What exactly does this mean for me? Can I purchase the HPtuners thingy and imediately set about adjusting things in the car? Or will I have to go somewhere and have them use it? What does this ussually cost and what is involved? (I'm new to the tuning thing as far as PCM and ECu stuff)

well i know for me (j-body owner) i can buy HPT beta right now for 650 bucks for the complete setup (wires and program) but im waiting til the official release comes out because i dont wanna be some beta monkey testing it out on my built engine. HPT is a very good thing for our kinda cars, i cant wait til it officially releases, gonna be see insane number from us.

Support for the Cobalt 2.2 Ecotec and 2.4 aren't looking good they have a PCM and a TCM which makes it a lot more complex.

I already have it working on my 2003 2.2 A4 Alero.
I have upped the speed limiter and removed the tq management stuff. It lets you tune EVERYTHING.

Before I went with propane on my Mustang I had a standalone fuel injection setup. You are right to warn people not to start playing with this if you have no experience with these systems. A blown engine is very very possible. Take it to a tuner and the power these kits can produce are amazing. I have a mechanic who is experienced with these setups and he did all the tuning and I never had a problem.
