Its kinda hard to give basic tips to people that have no clue how to tune an engine . Not everyone is gonna have the knowledge to :feel: it out , but I bet people will try .

Tip 1 - If you dont know what your adjusting and dont understand what it does or have anyway to monitor what the engine is doing , leave it alone . Start expiramenting to far with something like timing and it would easy for a novice to put a hole in piston with a couple keystokes

Tip 2 - If you do intend to tackle tuning on your own and will be feeling it out , make very small adjustments and have the scanning capability to know exactly what the engine is doing . At least beable to interpret what the scan tool is telling you

There seems to be alot of new people to hot rodding world with the cobalt SS , so those 2 things are definately worth a mention

I serious doubt the HP software will interface with a staged GM PCM unless HP got around the code . I dont have any facts to back that up , but I know ALOT of aftermarket tuned PCM's ....to which the staged pcm would be considered ....are coded . Falls under the catagory of protecting your interests . I am >guessing< the guys with stage 1 and stage 2 will be stuck with piggybacks for further enhancements .

I just downloaded my calibration today

It's quite a lot to take in, it's a lot more complexe than the 2.2 ecotec in my alero.

Standard version : you will receive the cable which fit between the OBD2 port (in the car) and your portable computer. Also you will receive the software to tune.

Advanced version : all include in the standard plus a kind of black box which is used to make some datalog of your engine parameters when running. Useful to know what's going one in the engine to achieve maximum results.

Four 60 lb / hr injectors on the LSJ will support roughly 330 + WHP (dynojet based dyno) at a differential pressure of 40 PSI (60 PSI in the fuel rail minus 20 PSI in the manifold from a 2,6" pulley).

42.5 lb injectors aren't big enough to safely support a perfectly Tuned setup with a 2,7" pulley and bolt-ons.

Increasing timing advance with the software will make even more HP and those injectors won't flow enough for sure.

JMC are you creating a tune for the 2.6 and 60 lbs. injectors? I currently have the 42.5 lucas injectors and a 2.8 pulley. I am fairly knowledgeable about tuning but have never attempted it, I am ordering HP tuners this weekend. I have always had my LS1 tuned by LS1speed in chicago and am interested in jumping into it with my new Redline. I would apprieciate very much if you would be willing to share tunes/advice with me. I am very knowledgeable when it comes to engine building but need to get my ass in gear and learn how to tune.

Thanks, Dom

There is certainly one or a couple of guys or shop or vendor that will come out real soon with that kind of tune )
