NGK BKR7E iridium equivalent? Or general plug discussion.

Running the NGK BKR7E's, looking to replace them with something with a longer use interval and if not possible curious as to what other's are running for gap on these if you do have the BKR7E plugs.

If they have an iridium counterpart, and/or if you have other recommendations, feel free to share them.

Thanks.

That is indeed where they're gapped at the moment, and I've experienced no issues.

I just don't like the every other oil change rule on possibly changing them, but for $8 a set if I'm going to pull to inspect them I might as well replace them.

I pay 14 each for iridium EX plugs. The stock plugs with stock or stage 2 GM last forwever. Push the envelope with TVS or tune or whatever, not a surprise the plug has shorter life...5 k is a little short imho you can find this information here with the search button:
Spark Plug references.

...and what I said what "every other" oil change, so roughly a 6-7k interval. I just want to go iridium and got a phone call that reassured that and the benefit of a wider range.

A rule of thumb is, one heat range colder per modification or one heat range colder for every 75–100hp you increase. In identical spark plug types, the difference from one full heat range to the next is the ability to remove 70°C to 100°C from the combustion chamber.

but how can you tell if your spark plugs are done for?
misfires? kinda seem of a waste to change plugs if they
dont need to be changed.

NGK IX 2667 BKR7EIX

Both of these are the iridium equivalents. I'm in the same boat, getting tired of changing out my BKR7E every few months and I'll be moving the NGK IX as soon as my next set is time to be replaced.

TOP TIP!
Sometimes when you go the auto parts store if you give them the part numbers they can't find them then they always ask for the type of car. DO NOT tell them cobalt SS and then say that your looking for a 1 stage colder plug because they will look at you dumbfounded. When they ask tell them 1994 Audi S4, the BRK7E is the OEM plug so pretty much anything for that car will be a one stage colder plug for our engine.

Good looking out on this part, they of course asked what car, tried to explain, dumb-founded look followed.

did you not have a discussion with rodney at ais or someone about two large a nozzle for meth and to reduce the size? or am i wrong. And NGK is the plug to use imho...I have zero issues with meth and iridiums on tvs and high power levels on track...

There is no need to replace copper plugs that often even wtih meth. I have been running atleast 60% meth on my bkr7e's for 25k miles. they still look fine. I will replace them when I bring the car out this spring just because.

unless you are pushing about 400whp, you do not need 2 step colder either.
