oem headgasket vs. my car = 2-0
replaced the headgasket with another stock one today and went back on the dyno to do some normal pulls with high boost.... i lost another headgasket and cracked a piston this time.
this was between 22-24psi both times we blew the head gasket, so anyone playing around those numbers needs to have an aftermarket gasket... and this was the finale of me helping the company do testing, i've broke enough stuff.
there are a few of guys on here that knows what's been going on with my car over the last little while, but for everyone else, those high boost levels were not achieved with the m62

alright, i guess i can narrow it down a little.
the answer to that is either yes or no
sorry man, i'm probably going to get in trouble for even talking about a blower swap in public. i can't get specific

No offense but seriously...if you're pushing that amount of PSI and you didn't even THINK of changing your headgasket along with pistons and rods than you had this coming to you...especially when you blew it the first time and replaced it with a STOCK one again. For about the same amount you could have gotten a Cometic MLS headgasket.
Lesson learned I guess.

the piston could've been damaged from the last incident, we only checked the one that the coolant leaked into. this is also why we're breaking the entire engine down this time and having everything checked out.
why would we change our rods?

What's in the past, is in the past. Get it rebuilt and boost away.
Also, isn't that much boost running the supercharger kind of hard and out of it's efficiency?

the lower the comp, the safer high boost will run

my car has never been to edgewater, i'm setting this car up for top speed, not a drag car. i would like to have the first cobalt around that will hit 180mph without major modifications and a blower, not a turbo.
oh.. and not on a road, when it's time i plan on taking my test and actually running this on the flats

Hey Self, thanks for the little info given. Shows a possible strong future for these cars. Thanks for going out on the limb and testing the limits. Sucks you poped a piston, but it happens.
