Official Turbo LSJ thread!!!

GPI was able to adjust my factory tune a bit and get everything dialed in. The point is people go through HPT and think everything needs to move and thats just not the case. I wouldnt go over 15 psi WOT unless I was on a dyno while tuning. Its just not worth it. Hence my full engine build because POP goes the SS. Cause the SS goes POP.

you have to be willing to drive a bit. I have a dyno at my back door but if I didnt, I would have drove a few hours to DFW or Memphis and got it done right. So worth the time and money.

im very selective on who i mention on tuning in various parts of the nation. the people in pa that used to do tuning have since stopped doing it for a number of years now. my suggestion is get ready to drive somewhere. email tuning doesn't cut it, and will never cut it regardless of what people may say about it.
id suggest driving to NJ or NY to get it done.

I'm on the tune zzp sent me with the kit just tweaked on the dyno by Fran. Car gets oart throttle surge sometimes and runs rich. I got a date set for April 12th at ZZP. I'm going up there

It's not that he did anything wrong. I want to figure out this surging issue because it's about getting on my nerves when your in part throttle, and when he tuned it on the dyno or tweaked it I was there the zzp tune was pretty spot on in parts, he eliminated some low end knock and that. Never had time to actually take a full day and sit down and fully tune the car. The afr are like 10.5 at like 5k rpm. The car is sitting now until spring had some exhaust leak issues to fix at the manifold. What would you think could be causing the surge?

James/ccss3 is a very nice and helpful guy, I appreciate his willingness to help me.. I even paid zzp 100 bucks for a mail order tune. But mail tunes are just not thorough enough, the car was not happy over 15psi or WOT. We spend thousands on parts but then skimp on tuning. Its just bad practice as a community. My current dyno/tune was 500, but every cent was worth it. I can also make follow-up runs on the dyno if I get more fuel, cams, etc.

it sounds like you got a good place for tuning
awesome setup

lol there will be more. but for the time being 600 is all i feel comfortable putting through the stock transmission. no reason to spend the extra $3000 for a ported head and fuel system to support 750 if the trans isn't going to hold it. just holding off on the transmission right now until a real solid replacement is found.
i'm not using the stock pump. so without the controller the ewp would always run wide open and never get up to the proper temperature.
bingo. the glove box controller just reads the temperature from the sensor in the picture and adjusts voltage to the pump accordingly, speed it up to cool off, or slow it down to warm it up. the box underneath turns the fans on at x temperature. basically the voltage is now my thermostat.
i didn't always run this though. originally we had the coolant lines ran far from stock. no tstat housing or oil cooler, which is more of a regulator. with the pump always running wide open and no oil "cooler" the coolant never got up to full temperature. i would be driving at 85-90* outside and my coolant would be around 155. one of the reasons for the oil cooler was to help use the oil and coolant together to maintain the proper temperatures. so without that, there was not regulation. we decided to put that back on and add this controller so now with the glove box controller, box in the engine bay, and the 3 way switch in the dash i have full control of my cooling.
