haha rude!! what are you running for tires on the street? Im thinking of some 245/45 dunlop z2s on a 17x8 rim with yyz v2 springs hope those will hook up for me on the street

 

i run the nittos 24/7 on the street and to, at, and from the track. but only because they were so old they were beyond shot and i didn't feel like wearing the tread down on the RE11s. i really couldn't care less about what i drive with on the street. i don't race there. and actually since these nittos are balder than a slick now i'm just gonna go to pep boys and buy some generic $80 tire. probably just another 245/50 just to fill the wheel well.

well upped the boost to 20lbs today, but the beta joe was using had some software issues, shes a ******* animal with a rough base tune and little timing no traction on brand new sticky tires on stock 18 tc wheels, can imagine what 30psi is gonna do :/

 

Why don't you support a fellow forum member and throw some Cooper RS3-S's or RS3-A's on there. The A's should last longer, but are an All-Season so they won't perform as well as the S's... if you're looking at cheap tires, that shouldn't matter too much. The S's are what I have on my Cobalt and GTI though. Nice tire. Comparable to the Michelin PS2's.

 

i don't need anything like an all season for a performance summer tire. i hardly drive the car as it is. it's been sitting since october. i just got it back on the ground last weekend. it'll be running friday. race on the 30th

 

Then why get 245/50's? That's an odd size that you're going to pay more for anyway. Drop to something narrower and save some coin... or just drop to a 245/40, that alone will save you a good chunk.

Don't get large tires then... get narrower, lighter tires, and drive slower. It'll save a lot more fuel that way. I was cracking 42mpg out of my LSJ when I was driving 65mph. Takes you longer to get there, but if you're running on 110, what's more important - the time or the money?

 

i always drive 65 actually. less wind noise (i'm a 24/7 windows down guy. it's only about 42 minutes anyways. and time is money

 

You're a windows down guy because you have no A/C. It's okay... I'm the same way. I've debated on whether or not to put it back into the Cobalt... think I will, though.

Either way, I'd get narrower tires. Less friction on the road, cost less, and they're lighter.

 

nah even on the old car. and every car. windows down. but i like to keep the appeal of, i drive it down the street in the same trim i drive it down the track.
