Was in 2nd last night and lost traction for a second. But my speedo needle went to zero and back up, power steering notification came on for a seconds. Just like when I plug in my code reader. What the heck is that!

 

Power steering motor taking a dump. You may need that or the pscm . Its part of the steering column. I had that issue on my redline. A new motor solved 90% of it.

 

I have had this problem happening

 

Its a recall , so just run by the dealership and have them swap it

 

Even with an 04 and no warranty ?

 

I'm pretty sure recalls have nothing to do if you have or don't have a warranty.

 

Yes. My 04 redline got 2 motors put in within a month. 1st failed quick. 2nd is good so far. The original was shorting out mad stuff

yep recall is something outside of warranty, you do not need warranty to get recalls completed

 

Gotcha called my friend he said next week he can change it also while I'm there putting on the upgraded timing chain tensioner

 

extremely noob question but on the turbo itself, the oil feed is the port with the round hole and the drain is the square port right?

oil feed is on top of the turbo. drain is bottom.

 

i know that but if the housing is turned it could be facing the wrong way. on the fittings there is a round opening in the center, that i am assuming is the feed, and a square opening in the center on the other side, that i am assuming is the return.

or can the oil flow through either way

Same here. I've only seen/handled turbos with the drain flange already installed. Possibly that hole is square where the flange butts up to it

Biggest hole is drain, smallest hole is feed

The large hole is to drain more quickly since the feed comes in pressurized and the drain is not pressurized.

 

anyone running or has used a ls4 tb ? results on that if so?

 

Not on turbo setups. People rarely run larger than 2.5" charge piping so there's really not much of a point.


A little update on my non-ic setup: ambient 20* starting iat2 40* at the end of a 2-3-4 pull iat2 was only 75*
Things are looking good

Are you running lsj heat exchanger system or just no ic?

 

No ic at all. Less than 2' of 2.5" pipe straight from the compressor to a Saab manifold modified to use an lsj tb.
There's hardly any lag at all.
Check out this vid I did today. Still at only 13psi. I dropped to 2nd, and crept up to 40, then nailed it when the needle hit 40. So from about 10" of vac to ripping the tires loose before the speedo can even catch up lol
