You just don't want to let these sit outside much at much under 40*.

R compounds get hard if they get too cold for too long, and they don't really soften back up. I've never experienced it but I've been told by friend's that run R compounds and do a lot of road course racing, so I don't know exactly how true it is.

No they are on the car sittin in the shop where it spends its winters with its friends lol. We always keep the heat at 50-55* when we aren't there so nothing inside freezes up and so it doesn't take so long to warm up when one of us goes there to work on something. My friend has MT ET streets on his IS300 too so I'm not the only one with stickies, and we have numerous sets of slicks there too, but those aren't the reason we keep the heat up a bit. We did long before any of us needed sticky tires

I don't think you'd have to worry too much. My old slicks saw a winter in a cold garage (much colder than 30 lol) and they were fine the next year. I did put a little WD40 on them though the night before I raced on them to loosen em up though, just in case.

Question. Whats a reasonable price to pay for an lsj short block used/needs rebuilt? I've been looking for a second engine to do a build with and have no idea whats a reasonable price to pay. All the local partouts around me seem a little expensive but i could be wrong. Just curious as to what guys have been paying.

Kind of depends on if any of the parts are reusable. Typically ~$350 if it's in good shape

Yeah there was a guy asking $900 around me for a blown block and another 200 for a head with 32000 miles with only the accesories on it, no blower or throttle body.. like what? thats ridiculous lol.

Only certain years do. Different generations. Avoid 2.2 altogether. They're either weaker or missing

To my understanding all gen2 blocks have oil squirters which would include 07+ l61s

is the 2.0 just a sleeved 2.2? is that the reason for the displacement difference? if thats the case it will be way easier to get a block and i can just get a head from an ss.. im gonna resleeve anyways.
