Official Turbo LSJ thread!!!

Guys, I need quarter mile drag racing tips. I've gone to the track quite a bit and here is what happens. First I have brand new Nitto Neo Gens. My car puts down 422whp on a 256et TURBO, cams and E85 tune.ok, I blow the tires off in the first two gears. TURBO lag for days in 3rd before I bounce off the red line 7850 rpm packagejust crossing the finish line running low 14s at 113mph. If I shift to 4th my trapps even slower due to LaGuardia. The spinning and lag in 3rd is killing me. I found out my K and N air filter was condidered dirty so I tried taking it off and running without it. The car did spool quicker but I obviously am a terrible driver and need some help. Any advice?

If you're lagging 3rd, you're more than likely short shifting the 2-3.
Have to learn to hold it spinning just below the limiter, THEN shift right when it grabs.
Also, I've never seen a zzp tune optimized for spool. It takes time, and time is money.

Yep, learn how much spinning is to much spinning, and also learn to feel out when the car has caught up to speed and has stopped pulling and its time to shift while spinning. Do it right and you won't lag at all when you shift. It does take practice though.

The best launches I have ever had were just like Area47 used to preach. No wheelspin. Cut a good second off my autoX time at CED meet just on the launch, reminding myself of that. Its not easy and a turbo is just that much more difficult than a TVS car......which in itself is easier than an M62 to launch

Who has successfully pieced together a turbo kit for a lsj? I would like to see build threads or really just any information. I'm sure there is hundreds of builds. Currently have a Saab 9-3 intake and starting with it. Main question is a cheaper inter cooler and piping solution that don't have to start from scratch. Any info I thank you in advance!

I"ll vouch for his kit. very clean setup, manifold looks killer and can't wait to see how it performs.
everything fits real nice behind the motor and it doesn't look like I did battle with an angry beaver after installing it lol.
have some pics up tomorrow once I get the car back together.
had to shoot out to Li today, picked up a different fitting for the oil pan. Doing it bulkhead style as I don't trust threading it, nor do I trust my tig skills (very much lack of). throwing oil pan back in tomorrow morning, charge pipes and dp. dropping the fuel tank to swap in the new pump and canister, and out to tune.

Do you guys facebook? some of the pics of his parts are on my page. I sent him our complete kit minus the intercooler, the 10 units I ordered weren't done yet and he needed one fast. So I sent him a ZZP unit. The kit is designed to work with any LNF style intercooler.
