For all the TVS owners out there..

Is it worth it?

Im looking for an fairly easy 300-320 to the wheels. I know the m62 can possibly make 300 to the wheels but thats its max. Id rather not be making that extra heat.

But back to my question....

Is it worth it. Is the power difference that noticeable, and come on differently? Or is it all the same and fairly linear?

For the time being I dont plan on revving past 6800rpm.

It is worth it to me. You cannot be afraid to push it a little bit. That's the thing, get some octane in there and get a small pulley and you'll love it. If you buy it just to go turbo later then it's being bought for the wrong reasons.

I have modest goals. No plans for turbo ever on this car.

Once I push it ill be getting meth. Locally we dont have e85 so 94 and meth is my only option.

Im currently on a stock pulley with a **** tune.

Lucky if im over 200 hp.

(this is on a 2.2 cav so its a little different)

Torque wont come on as hard right away. You should also try to rev to 7500 to best use the blower. But yes you will get 300-320 easy with a TVS and supporting mods

I probably have as much long term experience with TVS as anyone, and spend lots of time with all sorts of different delta turbo and s/c cars.

The tune is important so find a good tuner for what you have and dont drive on a s**t tune. period.

M62 to TVS? the TVS delivers power smoothly with a curve that few people have found the end to.
the M62 has more low end wheelspinning grunt, delivers the power madly but at 6500 rpm or so its done like dinner, and anything more than that you rev to just is power dropping in free fall.

without good tunes, a TVS may disappoint you. Without decent exhaust and head exhaust porting you may get big boost numbers but you wont make power. If you run a stock LSJ Muffler about the only way to make an s/c car live QUIETLY , then you will be power limited to around 280 whatever you do to whichever blower.

more boost with back pressure = less power
remove back pressure, with head and exhuast work , less boost =more power.

for me a 2.9 TVS with an AREA47 tune is the best of all worlds. 305/320 pump/race gas

SSkev has gotten 280 with an M62 and a 2.8 on meth/pump gas and real torque grunt low down; 285 on tvs with a 3.1 and pump gas; 330 on tvs with a 2.7 and stage2 cams but some really short engine life with timing chain issues and blower issues.

so there thats what I know.

I guess ill miss the low end grunt.....I like that.

Ill be doing the tuning with Hp tuners.....learning I should say.

I felt a good difference and still have the nice hit down low and pulls very strong up top and doesn't die off. the higher you rev it the harder it pulls and I'm revving to 75k.

I'm looking to up the anti very very soon!

I have the best of both worlds.

M62 low end grunt, but with "some" TVS high end power

I to like to live dangerously!

Be doing the correct mods soon to be safe and get to and 8000rpm redline. Buying valve springs, balnace shaft delete, 1k inj, BFRS and 2.7 pulley real soon. Excited to see how it'll do.

Oh and a surge tank set up like Japeater is talking about. Hopefully get some help with that since not sure what to do there.

Looks like I'll need to do some research to understand it better. Not sure how that'll hook up since our pump is in the tank. This surge tank set-up is new stuff to me and definitely need help being explained well and the install. Was probably gonna talk to Powell as well about what he's doing for you Japeater.

Ok I'll try lol.I have the dw300 as well. Where's a good place to start looking for a surge tank? I'm wondering if I can piece this together myself. Would a stock pump be ok as the lift pump or should I go with the suggested Bosch?

The bosch is the inline, you can use you DW for the lift if currently installed in tank. Or stock is fine for lift pump

Ill have better pictures when my stuff arrives from powell

Just throwing this out there...my old LSJ ran around 185psi each cylinder and my LNF hits 155psi. Same tester used on both.
