the nice thing about an oil to water cooler integrated into the cooling system, is the function of the cooling system part. once you accept that, the stock LSJ cooler (and the LNF one for that matter) is a pretty decent piece. We never needed to put an extra cooler or change the engine oil cooler on the race cobalts. We did make a trans oil cooler...

it is a decent piece but its one of those things that can be made better and removing it off of the coolant system lets the cooling system do its job easier I did a setup for a guy you know john and it fixed a lot of his temp problems

depends on oil dino burn off is lower then syn but 180 to 220 is reasonable but the stock system is also for emmissions also the quicker the oil heats up the less fuel is used if you keep the oil temps down the less burn off you get

putting the oil cooler of the engine coolant helps under a hard pull my engine temps will pull back to 168

so wat is there a problem with my guage or wat.

all i know is that wen i put the 2.4 in with out a oil cooler id see 220+ oil temps after driving the car around moderately hard. keep in mind that its 40-50° during the day right now and 20-30° at night.
with the cooler installed my oil stayed around 180.
and my engine bay seems cooler after idleing around

wat would cauz the change in temp? cuz u guys r sayin BS im open to learn

thanks man.

i just want these guys to tell me y running this big of a oil cooler is a problem. i purposely used a oil thermostat to keep temps stable.

its like putting a bigger radiator on ur car while u still run a thermostat.
i did it for the efficence.

Importance of Oil | Mobil™ Asia Pacific
if you were that worried about the efficiency of the oil cooler then you would know that the size of the cooler is based off of oil capacity hp level and so on bigger is not better a simple search or a couple phone calls could have told you that

Oil Cooler Design Basics | How to add an oil cooler to a car

I talked to canton and derale and they both came up with the size im running but they said it may be a hair to big but to let the car warm up a little longer before driving and it would be fine the t stat kits I found were not in a -10 line size so I did not run one due to that

i did a lot of research and found that a oversized cooler isnt a problem if ur running a oil thermostat.

i was refering to the fact of having a oil cooler on the car made it seem way cooler in the engine bay.

ill put together some tests to prove it. using temp sensor on verious points in the engine bay loging it with HPT to prove my point.
