I've proven the power gains going from a 2.9 to a 2.7 on the same day on the same dyno back to back pulls minutes apart, AND the trap speed gains at the track. On pump gas I wouldn't drop down below a 2.9 personally, but on E85 let it eat if you aren't afraid to push it a tad. 2.9 is probably the "happiest" pulley for the TVS, yes, but not the most powerful. I'd recommend a 2.9 to most, but those who want to squeeze all the power out of it should drop lower.

lol so you read the posts and folks that know agree then say well...
e 85
stock cams
etc.
fact is 2.9 is where its at. The fringe if they were serious would not dabble with e85 they would run C16 for power. TVS loves octane.
The point is, no one I know, including me, can afford to keep on nuking motors. 2.6 2.5 tvs turbo whatever and boom. its a lot of freaking money. some of the motors boom on the dyno...
so.
2.9 be happy
want more? get a turbo.
want more still?

That running lean dyno day was us and for some reason our car liked it. But I'm just thinking because it was saving the injectors as we were revving high. We left it mid 12's.
My opinion like other 2.9 on gas because you need octane. If you have e85, pulley down. I'm going to 2.7 or 2.6 next, depending on what my new fuel system and 80's can support

IMO it varies greatly on what it is going on. Focus more on PR and flow (hint hint compressor map) than psi.
Yes you can gain power and tq dropping down but it comes at a cost. I made very good numbers with a 2.5 m62 but would never do it again or advise anyone else to.

Just putting it out there. I ran a 2.7/2.6 for over 3 years and I've probably posted up more runs on here than 99% of people between the track, street (lots lol), and dyno. That motor still runs hard to this day. Is it for everyone? Probably not, which is why I said a 2.9 is a happy medium. Although, for reliability and power I would choose E85 over 116 every time. The closer you get to melting something on 116 the more power you make, on E85 not the case. You have to try pretty hard to destroy something at that power level on E85.

When will I max 60s out on pump gas? Would I be good to drop to 2.9 pulley on them?
Have plans for 82# valve Springs, retainers, cams and ported head by the end of the year. But for now, I want to see what I can get on pump gas.
Other mods so far/3" headers, dp, catback. Aem Cai, Siemens 60s, Zzp s3 h/e and duel pass/option b(not on yet).
My end goal is 350 on TVS. If I can hit that without doing e85 I'd be happy, but will definitely be switching after I do the valves/cams etc.
Haven't read enough on fuel, so that's an area of the car I still have to learn about.
