oh crap

ok so i just installed my 2.7 tonight. on my way home from installing it i was flooring it in 3rd gear to see what its like and when i hit like 85 mph in 3rd the psi just dropped and before it could even drop and settle i let off and shifted. it was the first time i got on it so it wasnt overheated previously. is that a sign of my cat being screwed now? ill see whats up tomorrow cause i dont feel like thinking about it right now. just fyi tho i have the full vibrant exhaust with a high flow cat so this should have minimized the chance of a clogged cat correct? oh well. let me know. thanks

for the love of god get some cooling mods...

and its not your cat, you would be spiking not boost falling off the face of the earth... check all your vacume lines and make sure there's not a boost leak somewhere

well, if your cat was clogged the psi would raise. if you blew your cat out, it would be slightly lower. did you tune for the 2.7? or could it have been a slipping belt? and also you should have some cooling mods.

That sounds like belt slip. You do have the stage 2 belt at least right? Also a aftermarket tensioner or something, right?

ok i literally just got it on tonight. the cxracing front mount is going in the 28th of july bc i will be away for a while so the car wont even be driven. meth in less than a month hopefully. so relax i know i need cooling mods and they are one their way. yes i have the stage 2 belt, so could it still slip or what? remember this happened for a split second. im gonna do some spaced out runs tomorrow to see if it continues. im trying not to get on it until i have the bigger h/e. and yes it is tuned. everything was installed with and by playwitcars. he just uploaded the same tune he has for his setup via hp tuners (same as me except he has a h/e).

belt slip. irc even a 2.8 on a stage 2 belt has been known to slip. best thing to do is an oversized tentioner pulley or an aftermarket tensioner.

no, because i havent heard of this problem very much with other ppl running a 2.7 I am wondering if bc it was raining or maybe bc i just put it on or maybe oil got on it, if there was anything i could do before i drop $100+. I would rather get opinions before i go and spend more money. is that alright with you? so why dont you give me your input or take your useless comments somewhere else?

How bout do it right the first time, then this won't happen.

Get the tensioner and don't try to cheap out.

Shoulda got cooling mods first.

There is my input...I thought I got it across the first time.

reading>you. did you not read the cxracing h/e is already on order? and that i will be away so the car wont even be driven for a while? I put this on b/c it was the easiest time for playswitcars to tune bec unless i wanted to wait another 3 weeks and i will have college stuff then so i did it now. im not retarded, im not beating on the car, i just wanted to make sure everything was in working order. answer this: how come so many other ppl dont have the tensioner and run a 2.8 and lower then?

oh, and you got nothing across the first time except that you are a big shot and think im cheap and you are cool cause you have millions of posts. sorry i dont live on here and post millions of times to have just normal convo's with ppl.

What does his post count have to do with dick, I suppose I'm a really big shot because I have lots of posts too?

His point was you should have installed the cooling mods FIRST, and why would you get tuned BEFORE you got the H/E and Meth on anyways? You'll just need retuned, so you basically wasted yours and Plays time.

well considering you dont tune for a heat exchanger...good one. secondly i will be running straight water for a bit with my meth kit UNTIL I GET RETUNED. the reason why i am upset is because i asked a question that had nothing to do with cooling mods. are you guys saying that the belt slip will go away with cooling mods? bc if not the telling me i need cooling mods WHEN I ALREADY SAID I KNOW I NEED THEM was totally irrelevant to my QUESTION.

if its not belt slip, it is probably the computer limiting boost due to the insane IAT2 you are getting.

that does QFT mean? and can our computers really limit boost due to high intake air temps? i hope they can cause im full boosting in 1st and 2nd gear and third is when i drop. i didnt floor it all at once btw. i did 3 runs at WOT 15 min apart in 2nd gear and had full boost. then i did 2 runs 20 min apart in 3rd ear WOT and it held 15-16 psi until 5000 rpms in third and dropped to 12.5 and held that til redline at 6750. i didnt do any pulls in 4th cause i figured that would just create too much heat. thanks for the help guys

yup. the ecu limits boost based on Cat converter over temp (cot) and intake air temps, among other things. its under the engine> torque management > supercharger

*WARNING* - DO NOT DISABLE THESE SAFETY FEATURES. theres a reason this **** is happening.
