Pacesetter Exhaust!
Well I got tired of waiting for a specific Pacesetter exhaust to come out for the 2.0. So I was sitting around one day thinking.... The pacesetter exhaust for the 2.2L is 2.5inches... so are all of the exhausts out for the 2.0. Pacesetter probably won't make a 3inch for the SS/SC and even if they did, I wouldn't want it. I also knew that the GMPP exhaust fit all cobalts so that must mean that the Pacesetter exhaust would fit the 2.0 as well.
So I bit my lip and ordered the exhaust from Turbo Tech Racing.
.....and it fit!
What most people misunderstand about pacesetter is the quality vs. price comparison. Just because pacesetter has a low price, does not mean it is a low quality product. In all honesty, this pacesetter exhaust is of excellent quality and was a very easy install. The powder coated aluminized steel piping should last a pretty long time also. Pacesetter is known for affordability and a very unique sound.
The sound is crazy. No other way to describe it. I am sure some of you heard the clip of this exhaust on the 2.2L, this sounds nothing like it. I'll try to get a video up of it later. To compare this exhaust to a familar sound, think thunder and lightning. Although I do admit it is a little too loud for my tastes, as long as you don't hammer it above 2500rpm, it sounds a little bit louder than stock. Go above 2500rpm and it sounds like you have a header, no cat, and one wicked exhaust! Sounds very similar to the Corsa exhaust. You also can't beat the price. $200

so what about this part, what the hell does this mean?
Tech Notes: Includes flanged collector, header extension to connect to stock system, and hook-ups for smog & engine management sensors. Fabrication may be required.
Is this gonna sound like ass with my corsa touring? I don't know about this guys, your gonna have to talk me into it...

Most people would say you have to pay to play...
But in this case - the exhaust is the only portion missing from my setup (I know, I know.. I ended up getting a bulk of money at once and went on a spending frenzy-- I figured getting a clutch was more important than an exhaust at the moment) ---
This one looks quite interesting. The fact that it fits well, and is only $166 - $200 w/shipping... man, that's right in my range..! But if this is a good exhaust, I don't see why not...

The problem with the Pacesetter exhaust is it will rust in like 1-2 years in winter enviorments. The gauge piping is very thin and that coating gets scraped off easy. But if you clean under the car often in the winter and spray car undercoating on it, it should last awhile.
There is one on my 93 Civic Ex and it doesn't sound that great it is kinda raspy but it's not horrible but then again on a F/I car it prob sounds different. But if your on a budget there not that bad, and I am in AZ so it won't rust off right away
So where is that video I wanna know how it sounds on the Balt.

well i knew the exhaust fit both the 2.2 and the 2.4 , since no one had tried it on the 2.0 , we couldnt say for sure , even though i know the 2.0 and 2.4 catbacks are the same stock
alot of the older systems would rust alot in the tips , which was the major complant about rust we had , and now the tips are all stainless
as far as the tubing goes , the black is just paint not powder coating , and will burn off if the temp is high enough
but as far as the rusting goes in states that use road salt , its a simple thing you can do , and you do it all the time , but never think of doing it , wash the exhaust off when your washing the salt off the rest of the car , yes i know it sounds STUPID , but you wash the car which you spent good money on , rims , under hood
so why not take a little extra time and wash the exhaust ?
ive had a aluminized tubing exhaust on my 68 elcamino for right around 20 years , i lived 15 minutes from the ocean in california , granted cali isnt know for rust problems , but my exhaust looks like its only a couple years old , so it does make sense that with care you can get your exhaust to last as long in say michgan
MERCURY , can you send me a few pics of the exhaust on your car(underneath) ? this way i can show the boss and can give the decission to get t added to the line up , eremboldt@pacesetterexhaust.com
also we have done our testing on the header for the 2.0 on a redline , and if things go as as i know them the header will look similar to the current 2.2 header , but have 1 3/4" primary tubes , and 3" collector and 3" pipe into the stock cat , which will require cutting and welding , and price will be in the same range as the 2.2 header
time frame is mid summer
