Project OEM
Recently bought a 2006 Cobalt SS with 150k on the motor. its Laser blue, all OEM. no mods at all.
This car has had a really troubled past. I knew the previous owner, and it was not taken care of at all. I decided to do a compression test and there was a ton of coolant in the block. Figured the HG was toast.
Started the teardown today.
Check out this really worn cam and heat
Coolant in the coil packs
Previous fail mechanic used different bolts and **** everywhere. I am in for multiple surprises

haha. yeah its pretty easy to tear this down.
Subaru has a bigger turbo on it, just need some new injector seals and it will be good to go. that project will be sort of complete for awhile. I say that now anyway

Pulled the head off. I thought there was going to be some damage, but honestly the head looks pretty decent for 155k miles. In december of 2015 we pulled the oil pan off, and there was foam casting...so I was expecting to see it from the head.
Sunday, Ecaulk and I are going to pull the block out and disassemble.

Im def gonna be sub'd to this thread. looks like its going to be an interesting journey. even though the head looks pretty good! you going to put all oem parts in it or you going to build it?

Eh, it only happens if you abuse the car. if you leave it stock or Intake + Catback it will be fine. there are thousands of people who have no issues with theirs. I was beating mine up when this happened.
