If indeed the stage 1 and 2 flash are different ( I am of the opinion they are), then the stage 2 would provide more fuel in the top end to account for the smaller pulley. IMO.

Adjusts the boost limit for the waste gate so boost is higher, different fuel/air map due to pulley raising boost, and probably reasons you and I cant fathom. I am passing info from tech to you. when they call in they use the same reference number to obtain the reflash. It is at that time GM asks is this for Stage 1 or 2. My dealer was willing to get Stage 1, install a 2.8 pulley, and ask for Stage 2 reflash when they called it in. Their idea cause they know me. they dont do that with just anyone.

I know there is NO differences becuase I've looked at both a Stage 1 and Stage 2 tune in HPTuners and there is exactly zero differences.

well just so you know - it is very easy for the a car to get stage 2 or stage 1 reflash when it should get the other. why? cause the tech needs to pay attention and the person on the other end of the phone has to give out the right reflash. it is stupid but it happens. alot of techs can do this mistake honestly or the mistake was reliant upon the person giving out the reflash. As I said I can only go by what GM techs have shared with me.

LOL that's pretty funny, yea that's it, the other car was given the wrong reflash that's why they are the same. Nevermind that there is only one part number for the reflash and the install directions that come with the kit say you only need to reflash for stage 2 if stage 1 hasn't been installed. I'll belive the info that comes with the kits before I believe a dealership tech. Dealership techs don't know **** about what is in the calibration, hell most of them can't even figure out how to do the reflash in the first place.

Well, from my experence scanning numerous cars here is what I found.

STAGE 1 TUNE is EXACTLY THE SAME AS STAGE 2 TUNE. BOTH COBALTS AND IONS. WHAT IS DIFFERENT IS THE MODEL YEAR STUFF 04 TO 05 TO 06 FOR EACH CAR.
example:
Torque management
04 Ions use kPa... Supercharger desired MAP vs RPM

06 Cobalts use ft.lbs.... Supercharger desired TORQUE vs RPM

MAF and VE tables are different per year, but when comparing STAGE 1 to STAGE 2 of the same model year, the calibrations are the same for the Stage 1 and 2 reflash's.

I scanned 5 stage 2 cars(3 cobalts and 2 ions). I scanned 4 stage 1 cars(2cobalts and 2 ions) and verified that all the cars mentioned above have the same reflash with Hp tuners when doing a direct compare log. It's been discussed numerous times here on the board. Heck, most people build off the stage2 tune and add there tweaks to gain even more power. That's what I did on Max_boost's car. The stage 2 tune is good, but there is sooooo much more you can add to it and improve.

I thought the stage reflash could not be changed? Didnt I read it has a 0 identifier?

Yes you can change the stage tune with HPtuners.
Heck, you can copy the stage tune to other cars.... I know GM doesn't like to hear that, but it's very easy with this software.

hmm, I need to try that, lol

I thought I heard that the stage flash was locked, lol

guess it was the eco s/c kit reflash I was confusing with it!

I stand corrected on the difference of the flashes.

Good to hear that the stage flash can be tweaked. There is only a few places I would like it changed or smoothed out.

It fits on the GM Stage 2 hub. Other than that, nothing special about it

Need help ASAP. How do I get some slack out of the belt? Where is the tensioner located exactly?

the tensioner pulley is right behind the SC pulley, it's the plastic one. If you want to remove slack then just get a larger pulley (38009 NAPA it's 3") and grind the bracket a bit. Also remember the belt becomes tighter as the engine heats up.

So I have a new SS/SC and we are haveing the Stage 2 installed, but I want to go to a PB 2.8" pulley right after. If I get a 1 step colder plug, is there anything else I need?

No you pretty much will love it But I would recomend a CAI if you dan't have one and a side note think about the Ingals siffy motor mount as it stops the wheel hop close to 90% at least as I added the STG2 & I had the CAI (Cold Air Intake ) & the power was great but the wheel hop was crazy then by adding the 2.8 PB Pulley it even made it worse so i had to do someting & I really like the Stiffy mount & it mounts right above your stock upper motor mount so it just adds to the rigidity of the stock mount !
