quick question on stage 2 install
Hey Guys, i have finally decided on going ahead and getting the stage 2 kit. i have spent many hours talking to gm about this kit, how much it costs, labour and warranty. for those who are in canada, this kit could be very pricey...but it doesnt have to be. after talking to many gm service guys, i finally got out of them that, if the kit is installed correctly, gm's warranty still apply's. so for me ( i work at kaltire ) if i installed it with a certified mechanic (which is really know different then a gm mechanic since they probably both have never done a stage2 kit) it would be ok. as long as they are gm part numbers.
then go to gm and get the flash.
now to my question! I was looking at a couple install guides and i read nothing about the SC Gasket to the intake......is there one? is it reusable? what meterial is it made out of.
thanks guys
p.s. before you guys bash my comment about warranty. gm did mention that if failure is to come due to the installation of the product. warranty may not apply. so do it right!

thanks for the reply quad. i am apprentice and i have pulled many pully's. but you never know. is there anything i should watch out for when i pull it out, besides it being straight and not scratching. i have looked at superstreets stage 2 install method. how did you press the hub against the sc shaft?

i took the snout off the blower, kept the coupler on too keep it level and used a 200 ton press at work... i was very careful. or you could buy the intense or zzp pulley remover/installer... be careful not to move the shaft in the snout... if it moves a mm, it will ruin your rotors in the long run... i learned the hard way the first time. as far as removing the blower, its not hard. the gasket is metal, so you dont really have to worry bout ruining it or ripping it. other wise there are 4 allen bolts, 3 hoses, and 2 clips(1 on top, 1 on the tb bottom) and intake removal... and belt (i recommend undoing the 4 bolts and tipping the blower to undo the belt, same when installing) and make sure your belt stays on all the pulleys correctly...
i think that is all.
o yea dont put lock tite on the blue bolts, unless you never want to swap pulleys ever again. lol

thanks quadracer. i appreciate your advice. when you say "be careful not to move the shaft in the snout" are you saying that shaft can move in and out? and that if it moves, it will not only be missaligned for the belt, but can hurt the blower? i will look into the puller/installer if this is the case. u cant be messing around with movement and with the zzp. i can assure no movement

thats pretty high considering labour should only be about 3 to 3.5 hours. but if you mean you paid 600 bucks for the stage 2 kit with install, then yes, that is a good hook up. i will be purchasing the zzp puller installer and probably going 50/50 with hunter2hitman. we will be doing it pretty much the same time.
does anyone have the zzp pcm tune? they have mentioned on there website that gm cant distinguish if it was tuned by them.......this was mentioned under there " will this void my warranty?" question. which didnt really answer the question.

the only way gm will know what you have as if some jackass mechanic look sunder your hood, looks up the parts and tells the system that your no longer under warrenty. that is of course though if you have something wrong under your hood, and stage2 will never damage your engine unless something esle fails. i have the zzp 2.9 and gm injectors with my own custom flash, they never check anything i have. and if you get a mess from the dealer with what you have (but i highly doupt it) just go to another dealer. our warrenty is only 35k which isnt that great at all, moral of the story whatever you do is gonna keep your warrenty i havent heard one story on here where some guy went in and they said your warrenty is shot bc of what youve done to the engine. gm is still a business, a business that wants to make moeny and get every dollar they can, thats why they charge what they want for the stage kits and to say you need to get it installed by them to get your warrenty so you pay them. i like the stage 2 injectors bc they are a direct fit, but get a 2.9 pulley for little more gain
