ralliartist dyno session

Ok, don't come in here looking for big numbers, cause the car just doesn't have the mods to produce. lol. It did pretty good for some band aid tuning, NEEDS LOTS OF WORK! But I'm happy with the results.

Started with 224.8whp and 198.7wtq, peak torque at about 4400 rpms and it never dropped below 180wtq between 3300 and 6200 rpms. No meth. Peak HP was at about 6200rpms, car when rediculous lean at about 5500 rpms so the dyno was stopped by 6200rpms. Peak boost was about 11.6psi.

Okay, next 2 pulls were with meth. Peak HP was 223.8whp and 199.7wtq. Tq stayed above 180 from 3K rpms to 6Krpms and then dropped to 150wtq by 7400rpms. Peak HP was reached at about 6700rpms and dropped to 210whp by 7500rpms. A/F was pig rich into the 9's up high.

Last run was made on meth with some slight adjustments to the tune, (band aid), and the output was 222.3whp and 201.4wtq. AF was a steady 12:1 until about 5400rpms where it went rediculous lean but seemed to richen back up after 6100 rpms but I had to let go. TQ curve was the BEST YET! Peak tq was achieved from 4100-5100rpms! and the tq never dropped below 190wtq from 3100rpms-6100rpms where I let out. Peak HP was achieved at 6100rpms and still climbing, had to let out though. Boost was 12psi at 5100rpms and 12.5psi by 6100 rpms. I was real impressed with this run.

I fixed the lean problem from 5-6K rpms but didn't get another pull.

Unfortunately I ran out of money and time. I'm not depressed though, my tq curve is MUCHO improved and the power was a way better steady climb. Keep in mind this is basically a stock cobalt with supporting mods. A.K.A. meth injection, CXRacing FMHE, exhaust cutout open, and a tune that NEEDS a lot of work.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU ASK? well, I raced a civic with a built b16 and a 60 trim turbo before on the first meth tune pulls and he would get me by a car. I would hang onto his rear bumper with my front bumper. After the adjustments from that last dyno tune, I put 2.5 cars on him easily and was still pulling. Unfortunately ran out of room cause of traffic, and I just wanted to see what I gained. He was real impressed as was I. HUGE gain for nothing but some tuning.

Can't wait to get a pulley and do some more tuning. This is fun!

Those are def. some great numbers for your mods. Were you running any more timing with the meth runs? Get a smaller pulley on there and a bigger nozzle for the meth and you'll be in business GOOOOOOOO *****!!!!!!!!!!

I think they were alright, a few more pulls and some more tuning could probably have netted better numbers. I was real impressed with the tq curve. It improved a ton. I'll get the sheets up tomorrow, it's too late now. I wanna hit the track before I throw a pulley on also. GOOOOO GAMECOCKS!!!!!

same timing on all pulls. About 24* advanced total. NO knock at all. IAT2's never went over 100.

Nice man, what size pulley you gonna go with? Also are you gonna up the nozzle to a M5?

Gonna go with a 2.9" pulley. Probably gonna up the meth nozzle also for more cooling and more aggressive tuning. Been reving to 7500rpms for a year now on stock valve springs. Not that I do it everytime I get in the car.

I only rev to 7100-7200 and when I opened my motor, all 4 pistons had marks from the valves hitting the pistons, but since its such a high angle, the piston just pushes the valve closed. Still not good for the valvetrain.

thanks for the comments. I'm going to bed now. I'll check this thread when I get off work tomorrow and I'll post the sheets and scans.

I'll take my chances on the high reving, at least till I get the f23 trans in. The stock transmission is garbage for drag application.

thanks lsjwannabe, means a lot coming from you. tq curve is amazing. I love it. Still needs lots of work in the tuning though. Gonna pick up a wideband and a pulley, then back to the dyno. But I gotta hit the track at least once with stock pulley. Just to know.

yea, that's what I figure, and DYNO DAN was pretty stoked when he heard me talking pulley and then coming back to him for tuning. I was his first ecotec/cobalt that he dynoed. He wants to see what it puts out with a pulley.

Nice work. Horsepower sells and torque moves! What size meth jet are you running to go that rich? I have my tune setup for around 11.8 without it, and when the meth kicks in it drops to 11.3-11.5 with my 3M jet. A 5M is really the biggest I could see anyone going for regular driving/occassional thrashing.

I fixed the scary part, which probably held the tq curve longer. It should hold a good 12:1 or maybe just a hair richer around 5500-6000, but hold 12:1 all the way up to 7000 before it richens up again. I just didn't have enough money or time to make another pull.

definitely. I'll get it higher next time. but I'll have a pulley to go with it.
