I got mine set at 58psi for base now and its idling really good. I am having problems without the little plastic block off adaptor when my tank is under half full. looks like Im going to have to drop the tank again. Must cause to much of a ruckus in the canister for the pump to get the fuel when less than half ful

I used just a basic fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail valve. You know im not sure what it is with the vac line hooked up. I will find out later tonight for you. I think it only pulls 9 pounds in vacuum.

The new ZZP regulator is okay, problems kind of are fixed now. Fuel is being pulled correctly at idle, and fuel trims are staying dead on too where I have MAF tuned. Before it would randomly be +/- 25% at any given time.
But now I am still going way over 100% IDC @ 6200 and but its tappering off to lean instead of hitting a dead fuel cut. So now it looks like my 2005 shitty ass pump is already at its limits.
The more I add fuel in MAF, the sooner in the RPM range it goes lean, everything points to pump now.
Skatin, since you have the same pump/canister as me, let me know how your pump seems to do.

I actually have an in-line pump available to me that would easily take care of my problems.
But I really don't have room to put it anywhere before the regulator with the ZZP kit.
BTW, all the disc is made of is plastic cut into a circle. You can easily make something yourself. Let me post pictures...

Have you tried to upping your pressure anymore? I havent tried my 2.75 yet. Still tuning on the 2.85 and barely getting to 90 idc and I was over 100 before the brfps.

From what i have seen and some math. 58 base with 22 more psi under boost should be plenty. 2.75 isnt that much more. Im hitting 120 idc at 6600 ish.

Soon as I hit 100 IDC, it starts going from low 12s to high 13s near 7k. These are gas afr's.
Stock exhaust manifold with catless 2.5 downpipe and gmpp sport. Header is next on my list but want a clutch first.
The thing is, as you increase fuel pressure, you decrease the pumps flow. So I don't want to run a 70psi base. Nor should I need too. With the way tuning is acting, it points to the pump.

Yes I am going to have to agree with you.
This is all new to me so you have to bare with me as I learn the basics of fuel systems. So when you increase your pressure you lose flow from the pump. Do you happen to have the fpr?
Now say you go out and buy a better pump do you install it and keep the pressure the same? lower it? raise it?

So I started running into problems last night tuning. I will randomly go lean and have a fuel cut. Weird thing is, is that my battery light comes on and the car practically shuts off. Happened three times and dont want it to happen again.
Are these the problems you were running into? I know Im not out of fuel because I have gotten to redline. And yes the regulator lags a little on idle when you tap the gas.

Is your tank getting low when this happens?
I really hate these 05 cars. I'm heading to Summit now to pick up a high pressure walbro pump. I think ZZP has an aftermarket pump that out flows stock and walbro, but I don't feel like waiting until next week.
This will now be my 5th or 6th time dropping the tank, lost count.

My fuel filter is brand new, less then 1k on it probably.
I just finished installing my Walbro GSS342 that I picked up at Summit today. Going to go test the car out now. Better of fixed my issues.

Glad to hear you got your new pump in.
Soo.. Is this a problem with the 05' fuel pump or all of the year pumps on a small pulley TVS? If I have to do a pump too, I'm probably not going to do E85.

It's an 05 thing. All the pumps are 2006+ cars actually outflow or are atleast even with the Walbro's. From what I have seen anyway.
2005's have a smaller pump than the rest, and that was my problem.
Got the new pump in with some persuasion. All my problems are cured. With a 58psi base, I see about 92% IDC at 7300RPM. And that's commanding a 7.4 AFR. I have it rich up at top.
Love the feeling of 25* timing all the way to 7300 E85 and 2.7" TVS.

Not exactly plug and play. Some dremeling is needed to make the pump physically fit. But that's the case with all the cobalts/ions.
The 2004/2005 pumps use a different harness. So you will need to cut that one and use an actual Walbro pump pigtail (which I didn't have). Or just use quick connect/spade connectors that you can find at any parts store, they fit perfectly.

Ordered my BRFPS kit, so I'll be looking forward to this fun and excitement pretty soon lol.
Any advice on dropping the fuel tank? Quick howto? I'd imagine go as low on gas as possible and get the rear of the car high in the air would be a good start. Other than that I've never looked at it enough to see which bolts need removed and what not?
