Interesting. I think I may drop the tranny fliud then and put some of that stuff in. I used Purple Ice in my aftercooler yesterday and the dual pass hose going into the aftercooler was hot as hell, and the hose coming out and going into the manifold was nice and cool!

That's the only Trans. oil that is offered in the UK(besides the other UK brands that I WONT put in my car).

as for changing the fluid in the trans... it's supposedly good for 100,000 miles, so there is no real "need" to change it

You can use any Dextron III equivalent ATF in the SS/SC 5 speed. I bought the Syncromax because I could pick it up from Summit Racing, about a half hour drive from my house. It also gave me an excuse to pick up an Injen intake while I was there.

See page 6-13 in 2006 owners manual states: Dexron III ATF for 2.2L/2.4L only. For 2.0 use Manual Transmission Fluid (part # 21018899). Would only use Syncromax in SS/SC...

Ok. Since nobody really helped me to try to figure out if I could use Royal Purple ATF for the transmission, well I found some gear oil. It's Quaker State SAE 80W-90 GL-5 High Performance Gear Lube. Does any body know if I can use this for the Trans.? Since I'm in the UK, I'm limited to what I can use as far as oil (engine & trans.). So here are my options:

Mobil 1 ATF
or
Royal Purple ATF
or
Quaker State 80W-90 GL-5 Gear Lube

Which one can/should I use? I need help!!!! I'm changing my clutch on Friday!!!!

bump

I wouldnt use any of those oils, GM specifically states MTF. Just go to a GM dealer and buy the oem. 80/90 would never work its way to heavy. Our transmissions use alot of "soft" metals, and you dont wanna ***** anything up.

Well the only two that I can use are these two:
Mobil 1 ATF
or
Royal Purple ATF

I LIVE IN LONDON, ENGLAND AND THERE IS NO GM DEALERSHIP HERE!!!!!
I went to one auto shop in London, and they told me that they use gear oil. I don't know what brand or anything. So from my two options, what is the best thing for me to use?

Does anybody have a good idea about the ss/sc trans.?

Really man I would try to work with a company like Summit www.summitracing.com to help you get the right stuff. I'm sure you dont wanna drop 2k on a new tranny.

I can't buy oil online and have it shipped to me.....remember it has to go through customs! But if they can do something and have it shipped to me, then I'll do that, but I dought that they can ship flammible liquids. So I think I'm stuck with:

Mobil 1 ATF
or
Royal Purple ATF

bump....
