Like said before that light should only come on, on an LSJ when the car is over-revved. The shift light on these cars for fuel cosumption purposes is deactivated. Our tachs are slow, I usaully shift about 200 rpm's before redline which I have found to be right at redline when at WOT in a low gear.
If your just Stage II though you shouldnt be getting that light to come on, you should hit the fuel cut at 7000 rpm maybe a hair over. I would have them look at it if its under warranty just, cant hurt.
Also just get a shift light and set it for 7000 to help from hitting the fuel cut.

I'd set an aftermarket shift like for about 6700 or 6800rpm, depending on how fast you are at clutching. If you set it at 7000rpm it won't do you any good since you'll be hitting the fuel cutoff when the light clicks on.

You over reved your engine. At WOT in the lower gears, the fuel cut off will react as slow as the tach. People have seen revs as high as 7600rpm with the fuel cut off set at 7000~7100rpm. Gotta watch out in 1st and 2nd.

The "Shift" light you are talking about is actually an "Engine Overspeed" light. It tells when your engine is about to give up, lol.
I hit that once in the middle of my shift my RPM's went to 7300 and thats when it hit it. Why yours is going off??? Thats a mistery.
I dont think I would worry about it if your shifting at 6800 because these cars are rated to safely shift at a little over 7000.

And 104 octane won't hurt anything unless it is leaded. Anything above around 93~94 octane will perform the same as 93~94 octane. Oh, the reason for that is Stage 2 is tuned for that octane range.
