Bump
No one knows? I'm kinda waiting for a reply to determine if I should install the injectors today or not.

i'm not sure about this one... but my advice would be if you don't get a solid answer either way, can you go early, and install them right before the tune??

Yeah, but installing the injectors has got to be painful, and dangerous when installing them on a 500 degree engine.

let it cool while he;'s tuning it.... its really not that bad... just put a tower under the fuel rail when you swap em out... and a rag around the coolant tube you have to disconnect

I drove from manhattan to suffold (1.5 hr drive) let my car cool for about an hour bour and a half a did mine for the second time... its really not bad. it's like 3 10mm bolts and one 14mm... and pop goes the fuel rail. there shouldn't be any pressure in the system after an hour

Dude, I would not do it. The setup you have now, assuming you still have your stock pulley, is tuned for the 32 lb injectors which are almost maxing out stock lol. If you put 60 lbers in right now, you'll be running so rich you will flood the engine with gas and you will do a lot of damage. The reason why you will flood it is because the pcm thinks it still has the 32lbers in there so it will make the injectors flow at whatever percentage the 32 lbers are flowing at. Since the 60 lbers flow a lot more, it will flood your engine with gas. Don't do it. Have it installed right before you get your tuning.

Whats a few burns?
When I took my car in for a dyno after I put the header on I developed an exhaust leak and I had to tighten it at the shop, no time for cooling down. You will have some cool battle scars to show for a couple of weeks and when people ask what happen just tell them it was the sacrifice you make for your car. Mechanics do it all the time.

Oh trust me! I have PLENTY of those little "tattoos" on my hands and arms. Just because I'm unsure about the cobalt, doesn't mean I don't work on cars. My story... Drove my '73 GMC 65 miles to an exhaust shop, owner lent me his mechanix gloves and I jumped under the hood (literally I sat in the engine compartment for 3 hours) and began taking header bolts out. After a few hours of wrestling with the headers and a few "AHH ****! MY HAND!!!" I had a brand spankin new set of headers in my truck. My right wrist still has a spot where the heat pretty much peeled a couple layers of skin off, cool to talk about though.

I am planning on doing this myself. Would it be ok to drive about a mile if I kept my RPMs down?

edit: nm, i wont be putting on 60lbers, just 42

Yes, if you work on vehicles you will have scars to prove it and stories to tell.

I wouldn't advise driving with 60lb injectors and no tune, heck it's hard to get them tuned right with hptuners.

Just pull the fuse for the fuel pump start the car and it will start and stall out and the pressue is gone from the rail.

Ok, i limped my car to the shop with my 60lbs and 2.6 inch pulley, the following will occure....

you will turn the car on and your exhaust will sound like a small block chevy (lol...i have a vid, i'll have to post it sometime)

Now as you accelerate (make sure not to go into boost) you will go into 2nd and as you approch 50km/h (not sure of mph conversion) or try and shift the car into 3rd, the car will go into limp mode and eventually shut off.

There are a few problems with this, you will have to make sure to stay below the limp mode factors, or make sure you have an aeroforce to clear the limp mode code. Either way it will be a long drive, i had to drive with my 4 ways on. I personally drove it there at 1am so there would be little to no traffic on the road. Just take it really easy and don't push it and you will be fine.

Injectors... INSTALLED
I got tuned as well, 7k rev limit in first and 7150 after that, boost no longer limited, cooling fans and IC pump always on with key in the "on" position, and it runs rich as hell. Standing next to it while idling after less than a minute your eyes will burn and you'll get light headed. I think standing next to it in a poorly ventellated area may result in death Either way is ******* AWESOME!!! It pulls insanly hard all the way up to 7150 rpm! I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY 2.6 PULLEY!!!

EDIT* While idling with HP tuners scanning, the injectors were firing at less than 1% duty cycle Even when I revved it, they only went up to 1.2%!

HAHAHa I know about that..... I only hit 32% duty cycle with my 2.6.... can't wait to see what I have to do to max it out.
