smaller pulley installed
hey every one
well like the title says i put a smally 2.9 pulley from intense today
it took me 3 1/2 hours to do it and man was it a work out. first we diddnt know if we wanted to drain the coolant or not becuase of the upper rad hose that ran over the charger. then once we got that off was the hardest part. getting off the damn stocker. wow we had to use 3 different size pulley pullers and a lot of strengh. seems like they lock tite the hell out of it becuase once we got got it it poped really loud, thought i broke the shaft of something. but then when we were trying to get the coupler on to instal the new pulley (bought the pulley system from intense), we got stuck again. seems intense over sizes there coupler holes. meaning that it was a too tight of a fit to get it onto the shaft. we just took some 800 grit sand paper and sanded a little bit off the pulley and shaft nothing where you would notice just to get it down a little. lubed the shaft. lock tited it up and pressed it back on with a big rubber mallet. wow it was sweet when i heard it hit the end of the coupler. instaling the supercharger back was a breeze, took 10 minutes. and wow do i ever feel a difference. im hitting about 15 1/2 lbs of boost and so much quicker. i got a lot of belt slippage tho so im getting a smaller belt tomarrow if i can get a size to judge by (hint hint if any one knows it)
tips:
1. have aleast 2 other people with you to lend advice and support (stressfull)
2. have a specific eaton/roots type pulley puller (check with a local mustang boys)
3. check ahead of time and instal your smaller belt when the chargers off
thats all i can think of right now
ohh by the way so far the smaller pulley is my only mod and no cells yet its on an 06 g85er any questions just ask me and il be happy to anwser

3-1/2 hours? Good God, man! I had a lot of trouble with it, too, but it still didn't take longer than 1 hour and 20 min. Some pics woulda definitely helped too.

You can remove the supercharger without pulling te radiator hose off. Everytime I have pulled it I just wiggled it out from under the hose so that we did not have to remove it. Just move your intake piping out of the way and there is lots of room to pull the supercharger towards the driver side under the coolant piping.
