rotors are fine, grooves in the housing is normal. did you happen to put any seafoam or oil additive to your oil?? what kind of oil do you use?
btw, saw your friend and his gti at the gas station he works at. I like how he never says "go fast" it's always "I get here in 5 mins when I'm boosting on the highway"
