Spark Plug Gap- Turbo

whats up guys, I was sick of the m62 and the weak IM so I went turbo and have been for the past month (its running great by the way after being tuned by New Era Performance- Mike is the ****). But the problem is that HpTuners only has 1 table for the idle so the idle now is pretty rocky- it jumps around quite a bit and sometimes (rarely) will stall out when I come to a stop light for example. Im running a .029 gap right now and am gonna play around with it.

What I want from you guys is, for those of you that have gone turbo with your LSJ what gap are you running and have you run into the same problem? Let me know if you have found a "cure" for this. I know it doesnt affect the motor in any way its just kind of annoying bc i do a lot of stop and go. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Oh, and I just had the Exedy Hyper Single installed- ****** beast of a clutch I love it Highly Recommend it

Well...shouldn't really gap iridium plugs anyway...I think they're .035 or less to begin with. .029 is way too aggressive imo. Did you even try the stock gap on those iridiums? Switch back to the 1 step colder and run near that gap...maybe.

Even with the .029 gap it runs much better than with the 1 step colder plugs... I havent tried the stock gap but Ill test it out and see how it goes... you have to also realize Im turbo, not supercharged anymore...

It may be the platinum plugs causing the grief. When i had my turbo mazda it didn't like platinum plugs so maybe try regular plugs and see what happens.

No I realize that. I'm just considering the amount of boost you're putting out. Maybe you need more of a gap rather than less with the colder plugs.

Running high gap isn't really a problem under higher boost - but if your trouble is at idle i'd say it's either the platinum that's doing you in or the heat range.
